Dragon Age: Origins
The Grand Oak Tree that is found in the
Brecilian Forest--initially as just an inanimate tree--can reveal itself to the player as a being of free will, who can only talk in rhymes. Possessed by a spirit, like all the other Sylvans, The Grand Oak was able to accept his body of bark, whereas it droved most to become nothing but berserk killers.
Unlike the majority of Sylvans that populate the forest, The Grand Oak is friendly to the player and will offer a branch of his, which may be used as a mage staff, if the player chooses to return his seed from a crazed Hermit. The player may also opt to simply kill The Grand Oak, but with no chance of gaining The Oak Branch staff.
