Set to debut as the protagonist of Dragon Age: Inquisition, The Inquisitor is the leader of The Inquisition that must save the continent of Thedas, or lead it to its destruction.
In September 2013, it was revealed by BioWare that due to DAI's year-long delay, they were able to add multiple races to the Inquisitor's creation. The Inquisitor has been confirmed to be Human, Dwarven, Elven or, for the first time in a Dragon Age game, Qunari. Many voice actors have been hired to voice male and female versions of each race.
- Human - Member of the Trevelyans, a noble family hailing from one of the many city states in the Free Marches. Human mage Inquisitors will have been sent to the Circle of Magi by the Trevelyans.
- Elf - A Dalish Elf of an unknown clan and location. Includes Mages.
- Qunari - Qunari Inquisitors are Vashoth, one who has never lived in a Qunari society and has never been taught the ways of the Qun (not to be confused with Tal-Vashoth, one who has been taught the ways of the Qun but abandoned it and fled).
- Dwarf - A surface-dwarf of an unknown location. Dwarves cannot be mages.
- Human - Trevelyan
- Elf - Lavellan
- Qunari - Adaar
- Dwarf - Cadash
