This is most definitely looking like a zombie (or people turning into something bad) game.  Now I believe there is an over-saturation of zombie titles but that doesn't mean the game won't be fun. In fact I've been quite fond of most zombie games that have come out in recent memory so I'm looking forward to seeing what this new title is all about.

Some people have actually concluded that it's not a zombie game, that it's some sort of plague spreading, and we get to see the end of the world. Like some sort of I Am Alive/Fallout thing.

A survival zombie game would be really neat, as would a survival plague game where you're trying to survive while a plague slowly ravages the world would also be neat and different. It would be cool if it was really steadily placed as well.

At the start of plague games and movies you see the initial panic and then martial law briefly before it becomes a post-apocalyptic setting, I think if the game was set entirely in that initial build up, where you and your family are worried about the new plague or whatever and then things slowly become more and more chaotic as the problem escalates, and then your fighting to leave a city (trying to get evacuated) and then when the army starts killing people you're trying to avoid their patrols and get to a refugee camp as well as competing with other survivors and infected (you could put in some real harrowing moral choices here) and it isn't until the very end of the game when everything has collapsed and it's post-apocalyptic.

So pretty much a cross between Contagion and The Road I guess.

I really hope it's just like a society collapse thing and the main focus of the story is just you trying to survive and dealing with other survivors.

And zombies/infected people are like a tangent that only show up in super special cases.

The game appears to be about a post-apocalyptic world, possibly caused by a parasite that infects peoples brains. = Hells yes.

Yes. I have yet to be disappointed by ND. I loved the hell out of the crash series (when they did them), Own the Jak games (and will most likely buy the HD release) and Uncharted.... well, yeah, Uncharted. I will look though all the "zombie doubt" and give these guys a chance to show me what they have. Cuz honestly, they never fail to deliver.

If the only human characters in the game are the dad and daughter, it might be pretty cool. And they should both die in the end.

My thoughts exactly

It doesn't need to be black and white, just because they may include "infected" monsters, doesn't means it's automatically a zombie game
 
I think they can strike a good balance between, exploration/survival, human enemies and short sequences of infected zombie-shoom encounters.
