Looked kind of bad. Even aside from the poor demo. Definitely not the Zelda game that makes me want to play Zelda again.

Where is my grimdark Zelda? Or steampunk Zelda? I don't want to keep playing the same game. I played it once, it was called Ocarina of Time. And it was great and all, but seriously....I'm old...I can't keep playing the same shit.
Right handed Link. Boo.
Not digging the art style. I really like the art in Twilight Princess, and I did like the art style of Wind Waker. This just seems like it's stuck in bettween OK wii and sub par gamecube graphics.
I really do not like motion controls. I hope the next Nintendo console isn't as gimmicky as this one. I wouldn't mind an HD or Blue Ray console with no motion controls.
The only thing that could really interest me in this game is a dark story. I have a feeling this might not happen.
The 'Steve Jobs' moment was hilarious.
I loved the look of the game; it was somewhere in the middle between the artistic extremes of cel-shaded Wind Waker and realistic Twilight Princess.
" Man...same thing that bothered me about Twilight Princess, the gigantic hud. Gave the game a weird, claustrophobic feeling that I just couldn't get past. "This. Such a bad design choice. How many 360 and PS3 games feature the controller on screen like that as a constant reminder for what to do? Yeah.
No mention of how terrible it controlled on stage? Okay then.
It looked like Twilight Princess with even more motion controls, which is pretty much the opposite of what I would want. Plus it controlled like ass on the stage, maybe it's better in-person.
If they bring back the ball and chain item, you'd better be able to use it by spinning the Wii Remote.
" do i get the hookshot or boomerang first? yawn. "Who knows? Maybe this Zelda will break convention. (Personally, I doubt it.)
So I only managed to catch the end of this demo when all the technical problems were hitting, which is too bad. To be honest I was kind of expecting more, I am excited about the motion plus stuff, Wii Sports Resort proved that accessory can pull off some cool stuff and transplanting gameplay from that into a more hardcore game like Zelda sounds rad and makes sense.
However, this still looks like a traditional Zelda game. I guess we don't know the structure but there are obviously dungeons, you probably get an item from each dungeon, the items are analogous to previous series items for the most part. You probably have to collect something similar to Tri-Force pieces. If I'm wrong and they are changing that up then fantastic but this seems more like an evolution than a revolution. I don't know how far you can take it and still be a Zelda game but I feel the series needs a dramatic mixup in its formula. Will still probably be a blast though.
Oh, and I totally called the art style a year ago. I was thinking something along the lines of a cel-shaded adult link, maybe with the simple smooth look of Mario Galaxy and that is exactly what it is. That is probably the best direction as Twilight Princess's art style wasn't bad but it looked dated by the time it came out. Enemy designs are very Wind Waker.
The HUD is MASSIVE.
And was it me or it did not work so well? He had to make the gesture three times for it to catch.
I remember that it was still rather impressive how well the motion controls worked in Twilight Princess considering they were pretty much just tacked on last minute. It should be very interesting to see what they pull out with a game that not only was designed with motion controls, but the abilities of Motion Plus.
Now, I will actually have to get Wii Motion Plus. I've been holding off before.
Looks like they're using the same engine / some of the same art assets as Twilight Princess, a la Majora's Mask being based on OoT tech.
This looks pretty great. I may even buy a Wii just to play it!
The game looks great and I love the new artwork for this style of Link. Unfortunately, though, the demo was kind of disappointing to me because it seemed that there were alot of technical issues with the motion control (considering it's still in development), but that doesn't make it terrible or anything. It just means we're gonna have to wait for more future updates and obvious bug fixes throughout the year.
I really wish that they would come up with a new graphic style for Zelda. They have all looked the same since Ocarina. Wind Breaker had an interesting approach, and arguably stands up to the test of time in regards to art style. I kind of wish that big bosses didn't look so bright and cheerful - rather something along the lines of Shadow of Colossus.
Or just give me a remade Link to the Past with a larger kingdom. 2.5-D.
I'm not going to complain much because a new Zelda game is a good thing no matter what.
I'm a big fan of the WW/DS style and personally found TP a bit too dreary for my tastes, but this just looks like they took the TP models and added the WW cel-shading to them. It looks a bit half-assed and I hope they tweak it some before the final release.
I thought the style looked a little off but after getting a better look and seeing it's a little way off I think this may sit nicely between the wind wake and twilight princess visually. And with that mix I also seem to be seeing a gameplay blend of the 3D Zelda we know very well and wii sports resort.
I wish it looked more like TP and not WW. WW is too cartoonish. This one looks amazing though. I can't wait to shoot my sword beams at the Octorocks. I love that they're getting back the the beginning.
