So the matrix online ended 52 mins ago at the time of writing and I'm feeling very conflicted about the whole thing. Don't get me wrong the MXO was not a perfect game but I've never and probably will never play a game like it ever again. What the MXO lacked in terms of content the community made up for in spades, something sorely lacking in other mmos. Ive played warcraft, city of heroes, star wars galaxies, lord of the rings online, eve, war hammer and age of conan but MXO was unique. A great community is something games like World of Warcraft will never have, they're simply to big. I have never played a MMO and seen it die before. When they finally pulled the plug on MXO I felt suddenly empty. All the work Ive put into my character (Pascual) and the world I put so many hours into gone in the blink of a eye, its a very strange feeling. I'm so glad GiantBomb did the endurance run. It made the last few days so much more fun than it would of been otherwise and I feel they showed the strong (and weak) parts of MXO. So the matrix is dead and so is Pascual. I'm moving on.... STAR WARS: THE OLD REPUBLIC HERE I COME!

P.S. Oh and seeing the world end while holding hands with TonkaTruck... it was magical!

I tried giving Pascual a character page, but was sadly rejected, but it was close. Pascual is a part of giantbomb legend now.

I have played the Matrix Online, and damn, it was incredibly sad to see it go.

EDIT: Also, when the Old Republic comes out, we Giant Bombers will need to stick together. You on board, Pascual?

It was a sad, sad moment watching you and Tonkatruck on the rooftop in the matrix, holding hands with the sunset behind you as the world around you and all the people in it were about to die. But you are a part of Giant Bomb history Pascual and you made watching the very last minutes of the Matrix Online a magical experience.

You are a legend. Sorry that you're MMO had to go, it was actually quite a sad moment even though I'd never played the game.

At least you were loved at the very end. The same man that loved you, told me that I would never be loved when the world ended last night.

In a strange way, seeing you alive on the forums makes me feel better about the video lol:)

Ive been playing MXO since beta. I think in latest video at one point you can see me wearing a tshirt that says "Beta" on the back of it, they gave out those shirts to people who participated in the beta. So yeah i was playing when they started the endurance run.

EDIT: and yes becoming a legend in Giantbomb history was always the plan!

So Matt, I'm curious what other games you play as an MMOer.  When I played EQ, and later WoW, I never really played anything else.  Is it the same way with you, or have you been playing any other PC/console games recently?

I put a list of MMOs Ive played in the first post but none of them are really doing it for me anymore. I cant wait til star wars: the old republic but i think that's a ways off. In the near future I'm looking forward to Fallen Earth and Champions online as far as MMOs go. Ive also been playing a lot of games on my console/PC games but i wont go into them here. "

I never played an MMO on my PC before but watching the Endurance Run makes me  want to join in on the Star Wars: The Old Republic when it's released.

Yeah playing MXO as it was being shut down reminded me why I loved playing that game. It was great in beta and early retail but started to fall apart when SOE got involved. I guess quite a lot of people came back to watch the end and it reminded me of all the good times I had with MXO.

RIP Matrix online you will be missed 2005-2009

I'm going to try the Star Wars mmo, but I don't really go for Subscription based mmos (unless they have game cards in stores).

Ya know, I can't believe I felt a sense of hopelessness and sympathy when I saw the end of The Matrix Online, while TonkaTruck and you held hands. I never really thought videogames would have that much of an impact on me, I always regarded them as senseless fun.
