Yeah, that moments was very tough for me. But very well executed (no pun intended) by Valve, fading out with only the sound of Alex' sobbing was very powerful.
Yeah it was sad, but probably necessary for someone close to your character to die. Otherwise the whole idea that you and friends are in grave danger most of the time is lessened quite a bit.
Probably one of my favourite to the endings to a game ever. It was so sad and emotional because it showed you the relationship between Eli and Alyx and how strong it was. Can't wait to see what happens in Episode 3.
@mandeponium: It left a bad taste in your mouth? It was extremely sad and heartbreaking but I kinda love it for that. It's one of the most emotional moments (not to mention unexpected moments) in any video games. Alyx's sobbing as it fades to black is haunting.
Love it but also hate it. Valve needs to hurry up, it's getting pretty ridiculous.
