Yeah, that moments was very tough for me. But very well executed (no pun intended) by Valve, fading out with only the sound of Alex' sobbing was very powerful.

Yeah it was sad, but probably necessary for someone close to your character to die. Otherwise the whole idea that you and friends are in grave danger most of the time is lessened quite a bit.

The most emotionally powerful moment I've ever experienced in a video game.  Absolutely stunning.

Probably one of my favourite to the endings to a game ever. It was so sad and emotional because it showed you the relationship between Eli and Alyx and how strong it was. Can't wait to see what happens in Episode 3.

I just finished the game and came here to make a post about the same thing. I hope the story doesn't here. It left such a terrible taste in my mouth.
