I can't imagine that even being possible.  I mean, half the time, the Striders topple the buildings before I've had the chance to speed over there.

The game's autosave system just pretty well reneged two hours or so of gameplay.  It's a long story, but it's safe to say I'm pretty well furious.  Haha.

I was going to link a thread with picture after picture of the gnome positioned in different scenes, but the pictures are no longer hosted. Oh well.

    I never did it.

Speaking of the Car, had to be the worst thing I have ever done. I had to bring the fucking gnome in the car and I was in a scene where I had to drive away and it was extremely bumpy and I had enemies shooting me. Not to mention my gnome would fall out ALOT. I don't even know how I got the achievement, sometimes.

Was it worth it? Probably not.

Tell me about it. I tried this once and it was so infuriating that it's just not worth it. Though, to my credit, I do have the One Free Bullet achievement.

I also have this.  A buddy was watching me play earlier, and he asked me if I thought the gnome achievement was worse than One Free Bullet.  I stupidly responded with a quick "No, because I can use weaponry, now."

    That was so wrong.

Karmum, the part my rage stems from is the moment after Gordon and Alex find the Advisor in the barn and are being chased by the Hunter-Chopper while driving the car.  I even did the "trick" where you try to wedge the gnome in the back windscreen hole by speeding and slamming on the brakes.  Damn thing still fell out, and everytime I got out to retrieve it, the Chopper would shred thirty to forty points of health off.

    Pathetic.  Absolutely pathetic achievement.

That is exactly the way I looked at it. I tried Little Rockt Man and got fucked, so I tried One Free Bullet and I found it incredibly easy. Only tricky part of that, I thought, was escorting those civilians.

I don't even think the game requires them to survive.  It's just a stupid escort quest the developers implemented to kill time.  Build tension before the Strider's appearance at the end.

I did it. I got kind of attached to the little guy. We had an epic journey and it ended with a sad goodbye. I'll miss him but I'll always know he's watching me from the stars...

I tended to just leave the gnome someplace safe if I was under fire or a helicopter was after me, then go and get it later. It was time consuming, but not as frustrating as trying to keep him with you at all times.

If you do get to the rocket with the gnome, there's a small panel you pop open to put the gnome in. You've got to shut the panel afterwards for the achievement to trigger when the rocket fires.

For the Neighborhood Watch achievement, all you have to do is know where the fast striders spawn. They're the only ones that can destroy buildings. The rest you can take out later.
