Great looking graphics does not make a good game

The Order: 1886 calls back to Uncharted: Drakes Fortune in a few ways. They are both graphical powerhouses and they both have only like 3 enemy types for the entire game. But the biggest divergence is this game has to be the most linear game I've played this year. Before we get into that I want to bring up the narrative which has you playing as Sir Galahad a knight of a order that is trying to swash a rebellion and creatures of the night. Yup Werewolf's are a issue in this world and that tidbit goes a few interesting places during the storyline.

If you like taking photos this game has a mode for you. Also the lighting gun is cool but you never get to use it much.

Combat is about as run of the mill TPS as you could imagine. It has a few good moments when the game gives you one of the unique weapons like the Incinerator or the Arc Gun. As the name implies one lets you catch people on fire while the other one fires giant lighting bolts at enemies. They might add a bit of variety but the rest of the arsenal is the usual set of weapons like shotguns or a assault rifle. As I mentioned at the start this game looks amazing. Although you mainly see the same London streets for most of the game when it has a level on a unique environment like a blimp it is very impressive.

Between the narrow hallways and repetitive combat it is a tie for the worst thing in this game. Almost every section is so small that you can't even flank the enemies to gain a advantage. When the game does mix up the action a bit it even does that badly. The two boss fights are just quick time events which aren't even that hard so I didn't even feel challenged when playing them. Then the stealth sections aren't fun at all since being discovered leads to a instant game over. These things may add a bit of variety yet they don't add any fun moments to a very mediocre story arc.

Blacksight lets you rapid fire your pistol like your in a Wild West show.

If this had come out at the launch of the PS4 it could have been a flawed launch title yet the fact it came out this year makes me wonder what went wrong. Sure this could just be a bad first step for a franchise that could have a much better follow up now that they've got the base world set up in this one. Yet the game they made here should only be played if you care about seeing how pretty it looks. Since the story is so obvious I guessed it by accident. If you can find it for cheap it could be worth a look but other wise this isn't a game worth playing.

REVIEW: The Order 1886 [PS4]Written By Tyler Pederson Sometimes reviews come easily. Often, I finish playing a game and have concise feelings on it, can put that to paper, and go from there. When I finished playing The Order 1886, I can’t say that was the case. That’s not a bad thing, and by no means is The Order a bad game, it’s simply not a very good one. It’s unfortunate that the game was put under such a spotlight, because taken for exactly what it is, a new first pa...

The prime example of how graphics aren't everything. In other words, style over substance. 0

Here we have yet another attempt to be a movie-video game hybrid, this time from Ready at Dawn. Only about half of the game is actual gameplay, the rest is very long cutscenes or long stretches of the player character suddenly slowing down to a snail's pace walking to a certain place. Adding to this is a forced letterbox view (aka black bars at the top and bottom of the screen) at all times; on top of that, some cutscenes stretch out over entire chapters. Half of the gameplay (which is less than...
