Developed by Silver Dice Games, The Order of Souls is a free-to-play role-playing game for iOS. Though an Android version of the game was originally planned, the game launched on July 24th, 2014, for iPad and iPhone through the iTunes Store.
The Order of Souls features several common elements with mobile F2P RPGs, such as crafting, fusing, and collecting items/powerups. One of the more unique features of the game is its emphasis on story, emphasizing player choice and lengthy dialogue in episodic form. Each episode is divided into several chapters, interspersed with random combat scenarios. As the player progresses through the story, choices they make are reflected in later chapters and can affect the outcome of certain battles or rewards. The game, however, only launched with one episode.
Combat gameplay in The Order of Souls is similar to older Final Fantasy titles, using a facing-opponents layout and relying on turn-based order. The player creates a team of three characters and can later customise and power-up the skills and stats of their party using the "Fusion" mechanic.
