The Queen is the ruler of the castle in ICO and serves as the antagonist to the two main characters, Ico and Yorda. She is said to be of old age and failing health. Her motives in the game are not made entirely clear from the outset outside of the fact that Yorda is her daughter. It is however, later implied that The Queen plans on using her daughter as spiritual vessel, a final part of a sacrifice to restore her power.
Also while not explicitly stated, there is information that implies that the health of The Queen is directly related to that of castle as her defeat at the hands of Ico brings the castle and the island in which it stands on crumbling down.
