I've been waiting to play the Witcher 2 for ages but not bothered due to the graphics card in my current machine. However I've just upgraded to a HD 6850 (for Diablo 3) and was wondering if I'd get a better experience with The Witcher 2 with the new hardware, or after waiting this long just stick with the 360 version. Rest of my machine:

Intel Core i5 Quad Core 3.33GHz

    6GB DDR3 RAM

I'm not a big PC gamer so any advice is appreciated.

The 360 version looks awful. Of course I'm jaded because I've played it through on PC maxed out, so it's only logical it'll look bad to me. It'd be crazy to go for it on console.

    Get the PC version.

But wait until the 360 version release, because there will be a big free content update and you can bet your ass they'll put it on sale.

    Cheers, that was quick. :P

So you think even with that card it'll look better than the 360? I guess the only thing is whether to wait for the new content to arrive before playing through it?

The 360 is 7 years old...the 8800GTX that came out in 2006 can run Crysis on high, and Crysis looks better than anything on console by far.

    Come on guy.

Edit: Also I would wait for the new version, it's not that far away now. I can't wait to jump back in with that stuff in a fresh playthrough!

    PC.

Cheaper, better looking, runs better, access to mods, and you can use a controller just fine if you want to. I don't see why you wouldn't go with the PC version, unless you're just searching for more gamerscore.

Psst! At the risk of sounding like an echo, go for the PC version. I hear the 360 version will look decent, but there's no way it will look better than the PC version, and you can even play The Witcher 2 with a 360 gamepad.

I know I'm late to the party, but if you can (And looking at your specs, you can), definitely get it on PC. Besides obvious reasons, there is one more thing to keep in mind. If they do more updates after the Enhanced Edition (Which is not entirely unimaginable), there will probably be some problems with the 360 version (I don't mean technical aspect, I'm talking about Microsoft's policy regarding such updates), but the PC version will not have such "limitations", so this makes it the best choice regarding additional content. And everything else.

The good news is that anyone who owns The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings before the 17th will receive the upgrade to the Enhanced Edition for free!

    - from the press release

so, if you buy the retail disc (currently $29 on amazon.com) now, you get the enhanced edition upgrade in a patch for free, just like everyone else who already owns the game. if you buy it on gog.com, you'll get it for $40 and will automatically get the digital premium edition with lots of new goodies (CDProjekt created GoG so they like throwing even more free stuff in with your purchase of their own game^^).

whichever way you choose, PC is the way to go!
