I agree on the first point completely, and somewhat on the second, but this topic lacks much in the way of substance.

As Khann said, this is hardly a substantial topic, though I can sympathize with the need to simply get those two statements out there and off your chest, as they are completely true.

I really want to play this as well as the first. Can anyone give a lazy bastard a hand and post the specs for each? I plan upgrading my PC soon and want to make sure I can play them.

As unpopular as this comment might be: It's far better than Mass Effect 2 and either Dragon Age.

It's certainly the former in the RPG genre, and I would say the latter in respect to the Western fraction of the genre. It's an incredible game.

The quicklook definitely made me want to build a PC, that thick foresty environment looked gorgeous.

i like me2 more and uncharted 2 is undoubtedly the best looking 3rd person game. however, witcher 2 is a lot more expansive than uc2, so credit where credit is due

Based on the 5 minutes I watched of the quick look, Alan Wake, God of War 3, Uncharted 2 and many others games look better.

So far I am enjoying it better then dragon age.
When it comes to look, well that might be, but it is too shiny now.
I liked the look in the last game better.

Yeah, I was afraid to start this thread myself but now that it's here.... It is the best looking game for sure. Not sure if it's the best RPG because I have to finish it first.. But I will say that the story is definitely among the best ever in a video game.

I  have a Playstation 3 and have these games and i wouldn't agree at all.
Uncharted 2 has abit of a better presentation in cutscenes but in-game The Witcher 2 looks far better imo. God Of War 3's textures are nowere near as sharp.

I don't want to turn this into a graphics-discussion but The Witcher 2 is certainly the best looking game I have ever seen, period. No Crysises, Uncharteds, God of Wars or anything really can hold a candle to what CD Projekt pulled off with the RED engine plus their attention to detail and the beautiful art design.

Based on the 10 hours I played so far: Alan Wake looks better? Hell no! God of War 3 and Uncharted are really close but I think the Witcher 2 looks better overall. Of course thats the point where your personal taste is important and it´s difficult to decide which product is technically better.

The same goes for best RPG. I struggle to say that it´s better than Dragon Age 1 or Mass Effect but it´s definitely on par. Also now, I really want to read the books.

This game destroys dragon age. I cannot stand that game and it's crappy characters/lore.

The first witcher game destroys dragon age, and the TW2 takes a mighty dump on it from height.

Basically if you enable ubersampling this games looks better than practically anything, however you DON'T enable ubersampling. From what I've played so far it is a very nice looking game, and it's right up there with the best RPGs.

Looks great, combat has been simplified which kind of makes it more tedious than it already was. Taking out stances and attack timing, you're just clicking till it dies. Snore. I enjoy everything else though.

I would have to agree on that. I thought the combat system would have been different than what it turned out to be. I'm not gong to call The Witchers combat system great, but id did offer more depth than what i have currently played in The Witcher 2.

I liked the stances and that you had to time your attachs. So i'm sad to see that is completely gone.

Based on the many hours I've spent actually playing those, I'm going to say you're wrong. The differences are even much more pronounced for me since I play them all on the same monitor.

I liked the first DA, but yeah, it kept nagging at me that I actually didn't enjoy it anywhere near as The Witcher. I expected DA to surpass it, but nope. It was good, but nowhere near as good as TW for me.
Needless to say, TW2 far surpasses both.

I think LA Noire looks better on the PS3 based on the few hours I've played of it thus far, but I've always been a sucker for good animation rather than lighting effects etc.

Witcher 2 certainly isn't the best RPG (maybe in the past two years or so), I mean the game has a really intrepid and dissapointing third act, with the ending being waaay too ME2-like with it's foreshadowing.

Best-looking third-person game? Nah. Prince of Persia 2008, Okami, Alan Wake, Assassin's Creed II and others look better (even if their engines and so on aren't nearly as advanced).

I think it's the best action RPG ever made. The graphic, music and story is great and the combat strikes perfect balance between dice roll based and player skill based.

Agreed, the stances were something that made the first game different from everything else out there. I for one never heard of any similar combat system in other games. It was a cool thing. Also what's sad is that there are no  new moves to learn TW2. I'm glad the magic is all available from the beginning, but it would be really awesome if there was something really powerful to unlock, not just stat boosts.

I think this game does beat Uncharted 2 graphically in many respects too, not least of which is texture resolution and (main plot line) character design.  I'd recommend watching some lets plays @ 1080p on Ultra.

There are still timings and heavy/light switch-up chain combos, you just don't have an indicator on screen showing you when to click, and the combos can be interrupted by a random evade forcing you to defend or evade yourself since your next few attacks will auto-whiff even if they're in range, leaving you open to a counter. The system can be very finicky and sometimes frustrating, though :c

What they did do was make signs integral and bombs and traps much more useful in combat this time around, which is probably where they're aiming for people to find the depth there rather than the often arbitrary stances and same-combo-of-button-clicks-for-every-fight that made up the first.

Best RPG... to date?

Fuck no. But it's pretty good. I'm having a hard time deciding whether I like this or Mass Effect more, but I'm leaning towards the former.

I'm still disappointed they haven't made a fucking Witcher game centered around a monster instead of assassins and shit. But maybe that's just me.

Say what you will, but objectively speaking Origins is superior to the first Witcher, and is on par with the second going by personal preference.

...  I don't think you know what 'objective' means.
Opinions are subjective, not objective. It is your opinion that DA:O is superior. It is my opinion, and clearly many others, that it is not.

DA2 doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as the other games.

I hate myself so much right now, my masochistic way of completionism.

I'm still completing side quests in Act II of Witcher 1 and will not be touching Witcher 2 till I've finished Witcher 1, argh the frustrating 1st world issuesssss of today!!

I can't tell if you are trolling or just being pretentious but those games don't look nearly as good as the Witcher 2: which I assume you probably haven't played. The lighting is this game is as close to real life as I have ever seen; the only thing that is nearly as accurate is Metro 2033.

I have not yet played The Witcher 2, but I have seen plenty of screenshot, trailers and videos of the game being played (both official and unofficial) on the highest setting, which is more than sufficient when judging the graphics. It looks great, but all of the games I mentioned look better. Assassin's Creed II mainly because of the architecture and the animation.
