So I've watched the quick look and remember Vinny talking about it a lot on the Bombcast during the 2011 summer and kinda wanted to get it then. But since it has come out on the 360 and seems to be of good to great quality (also despite what I think about Patrick's sense of humor and when he tries to be funny is usually awful...but when he talks about a game he likes he very engaging and convinces me to get said game. "Darksiders" a couple months ago I decided to try because of what he said and now with the Witcher 2)

Sorry about the tangent but back to my question. My 360 is on it's last legs again and do not want to buy another one EVER again (5th or 6th one now) so I'm saving it for 360 exclusives only. My PC isn't powerful enough to run Witcher 2 and would be too much money to upgrade at this point (and since I got married a few weeks ago not enough money currently to even do that). So I'm hoping it might get ported to the PS3 at some point but I do not know if that would ever happen. If you guys tell me it will never happen I will get it on the 360 regardless. Any information would be great.

There is nothing stopping them if they decide they want to port it. That being said I highly doubt they want to take the time to do so at this point. There next game will probably come out on all consoles though.

The team behind Witcher 2 didn't have the manpower to port for both consoles. Also, it's more difficult to program games on the PS3 than 360, and even more of a challenge, considering the team was so small. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I think the most impressive thing is that The Witcher 2 came out on any console at all, let alone how damn good it looks on the 360. The Witcher 3 will probably be all platforms, but I wouldn't expect The Witcher 3 to come out for the next two and a half to three years.

As it stands, play it how you can. It's definitely worth the investment.

It doesnt seem like it will be the enhanced edition does layout the inevitable Witcher 3, so here's to hoping that they build upon the xbox release and go multi-platform for their next one.

If I was a magic 8 ball, I'd say "signs point to no". But since I'm not I'll say it's probably unlikely simply because it would be a much different beast to port it compared to the 360. If they wanted to do it and do it right (which it seems they do tend to want to do things right considering the first one simply never came out because it wasn't done right) they would need to hire specialists that can help them in porting it to the PS3 and realistically they probably wouldn't see enough of a profit gain to make it worthwhile. The only way that would not be the case is if they were going to go pc/360/ps3 for the witcher 3 but it would almost be better to release witcher 3 as a pc game first and then a console port to the ps4/xbox460? which theoretically if rumors are to be believes will both have architecture that is closer to pcs (which for game quality would probably be a good thing for everyone).

I remember reading somewhere that CD Projekt said that right now (it was back when Witcher 2 was announced for 360) they are not against the idea but seeing how they are a one game kinda company they are only concentrating on the 360 version. I bet they are waiting to see how Witcher 2 will fare on the 360 to see if it's financially viable. Seeing how the 360 version of the game is universally praised by reviewers and gamers I bet you'll see a PS3 version in the near future but I wouldn't hold my breath for it. Personally I say that if you don't hear anything about it by the end of the year then a PS3 version of this game will not happen.

But if there is a possibility of it coming out on PS3 within a year I will wait. Don't want to exert more than I have to on the 360 if I don't have to. It is a fragile system and I don't care what anyone says.

I think they actually said that the amount of RAM available to the PS3 was keeping them from porting the game. I hate to break your hearts, guys, but I'm pretty sure that there's not ever going to be a PS3 port. Or, at least, not one by CD Projekt.

I'm gonna say no. The memory architecture of the PS3 makes for some tricky programming and I don't think they have much to gain by releasing it on the PS3 honestly. Secondly, on a side note you still have a Original 360? Because the 360-S is a MUCH more reliable system. Extremely glad I bought mine.

Have they ever said, straight out, without a doubt, they would not be porting it? If not, there is hope. Just look at Mass Effect 2. Bioware nor EA ever said that it wouldn't be going multiplatform... er, beyond the multiplatformness of PC and 360. In fact, whenever someone would ask, they would say "We're not in any position to announce anything yet ;)" and allude with every fiber of their being that, yes, we are totally porting this.

Wasn't the Witcher game they were doing for consoles, before they cancelled it and just went with the Witcher 2, supposed to be ps3 and 360?  If so that might mean they would have the people to make it -- and we've seen plenty of timed exclusives this gen.  So, I don't know, it's possible but if so it would probably be like 6mo to a year at least if at all.

Pat said it was the first one for the 360. But the team they sent it to did such a poor job they canned. No mention of it for PS3.

There seems to be little chance that CDPR would start a PS3 port at this point in time. I'd think that if it was already in the works they would have announced it at their press conference a couple of weeks ago.

If Witcher 2 ends up being the last game that your 360 ever plays it would totally be worth it. What exclusives are you holding out for, Halo 4? That's pretty much all the Xbox has for this year, isn't it?

Hell no but I'm sure at some point in the next year and a half there will be a exclusive that I will want to play. Maybe a good Mass Effect sequel that I want to upload my decisions in... maybe Rock Band 4 is awesome and I jump back into music games with the hundreds of dollars I spent on DLC already... I don't know, maybe there would be a exclusive I want to play

Haha that would be amazing of her to do so but I doubt it. If I am to upgrade it's going to be a huge jump so I wouldn't have to worry about upgrading for many years. I would have to get a new CPU which means a new power supply, then I would need a new graphics card, possibly a new motherboard at that point and might as well through in a couple for Gigs of RAM. That would be pricy. And I'm not sure she knows the difference between a PC and a Mac. But I love her nonetheless.

Yes I install my games but with my luck it can go any second. I installed ME3 and it was still loud as shit while I played.

And no poor xboxes. Maybe not 6 of them but I can at least think of 4 I have had...maybe a 5th one that I am missing. For comparison I have had 4 to 5 Xbox's, my 2nd Wii and, my most used console FYI, my old Fat 60GB PS3. Only needed one and it runs perfectly fine still

@Nightriff I'll consider myself lucky. I ran that Xbox all day at work and home for 1.5 years. I want a achievement lol. I would get the witcher 2 and take my chances. I was a little disappointed with skyrim but the witcher has been a great experience especially if you want some more heft to combat and story.

This is entirely different than the ME2 thing though. The Witcher 2 on 360 is what ME2 on PS3 was. It's highly unlikely that they will go back to this game for a third time to port it to another console, with it's release 2 years after the original.

It sucks, but I'm pretty sure that it looks like they are just going to move forward with The Witcher 3 and not worry about re-releasing the Witcher 2 for the third time.

@Nightriff: I remember reading something about CD Projekt being a "one game developer", and they picked the 360 because of it's similarity to the PC in terms of game development. I am pretty sure the article mentioned the fact that they saw the PS3 as a bigger effort than their team was willing/able to undertake at this point due to the way games need to be designed for it. So my guess is no, it wont come to the PS3 any time soon. The 360 version was announced in June 2011, and didn't come out until very late April 2012....so you're looking at a year+ after the announcement, which hasn't even happened yet, with new consoles a few years away. I say risk it and pop that baby in your xbox...the system is for great games, and you have one of the best games for it right now so you might as well get your fun in before it kicks the bucket.

They were considering a full-on expansion pack, so I wouldn't be surprised if they bundled that and also released on the PS3. It would be smart move.

But I doubt they'll have the money to do a second port.

It's probably not going to happen. I mean, did Mass Effect 2 sell all that well on PS3? That would be a pretty good barometer to see if it's worth it. Big name RPG comes out a year later on rival system. Don't think it sold great.

It sold enough to warrant ME3 on PS3. Plus ME is a bad example, most people started that series on the 360.

I would think a PS3 version would make a lot of sense, given the PS3 does much better in Europe and the PC version of Witcher 2 sold most of its copies in Europe. Though I bet Japan wouldn't know what to do with Witcher 2...
