I just finished L.A. Noire and was excited to begin The Witcher a game that I had installed on steam since it was on sale a long while ago.  After booting it up and watching the pretty cool opening cut scene I got to the menu screen, but I had no cursor or any kind of control of the menus.  It was automatically highlighting load game because I had played probably the first 20 minutes (not that I remember any of it) when I initially purchased it.  Since it was highlighted I just clicked to see what would happen and it worked and brought me to the load selection screen, but after this it just completely locked up.  I have tried booting it up multiple times and it does the same thing, do I just need a reinstall or what do you all think it is? 

Before you reinstall try debugging it and verify the file integrity on steam

A reinstall would probably help. or you could have a driver issue. reinstall those if all else fails.

hold down shift on the menus. Worked for me when the cursor disappeared.

I have had this problem. Try holding shift. It brought to cursor up for me.

Just finished chapter one. Boy, was it unusual...

It kept me up until 2am, though.

This happens to me if I press shift while the game is booting up.
