Them's Fightin' Herds is a 2D fantasy fighting game developed by Mane6 and published digitally by Humble Bundle (and later Modus Games) for the PC on April 30, 2020. It was originally released as a Steam Early Access title on February 22, 2018. The game received a Linux port on March 25, 2021.
Set in the fantasy world of Fœnum, players control one of seven sentient, four-hoofed creatures (each a champion of their respective tribe) as they face each-other in a friendly competition to determine who will face the champion of an army of carnivorous beasts (known as the Predators.)
It began development in 2012-2013 as a fan-game for the animated series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (under the title Fighting is Magic), featuring the series' characters as playable fighters. After a cease and desist from Hasbro, Inc., the game was restructured with a new world, a new story, and new character designs (all with involvement from Lauren Faust, the creator of Friendship is Magic.) Along with being crowdfunded (through Indiegogo), the game also received contributions from Lab Zero (who allowed the game to switch from the 2D Fighter Maker engine to Lab Zero's proprietary Z-Engine, previously used for Skullgirls).
As part of a promotion, players who own Blazblue: Central Fiction, Skullgirls (with the 2nd Encore upgrade), and/or Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- (with the REV 2 upgrade) unlock special cosmetic items themed after characters from the respective titles, for use in Them's Fightin' Herds' online lobby system.
