Herzog Zwei is a 1989 real-time strategy game that puts two commanders against each other on a wide variety of maps and environments. Each player controls a Mech that can transform from a fighter jet to a walking bi-pedal robot. Released by Technosoft for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis console, it is credited for pioneering the RTS and MOBA genres. It was also a precursor to the hero shooter genre.
The sequel to the obscure 8-bit title, Thunder Force II finds players again fighting against the ORN and their plans to assault the Galaxy Federation.
Bosconian '87 is a licensed port of the Namco arcade game Bosconian, given a few unique tweaks by developers Mastertronic.
An early role-playing shooter released by Arsys Software for the PC-88, PC-98 and FM-7 computers in 1986 and ported to MS-DOS by Brøderbund. An early RPG-shooter hybrid, it was one of the first computer games with polygonal 3D environments, along with full 360-degree third-person exploration for indoor environments.
Bosconian is an arcade multi-directional shooter where players must clear levels of enemy space stations.
