Titan Quest
Game » consists of 7 releases. Released Jun 26, 2006
Titan Quest is an Action-RPG set in ancient Greece, Egypt, and Asia filled with creatures and characters from both history and myth. The gameplay is heavily reminiscent of the Diablo series.
On sale now
I've made my toughs known about TQ a few times.
The pace of combat an movement is excruciatingly slow, character progression is a mess, too much cookie cutter stuff, useless talents and must haves, boring incremental progression, uninspired visual aesthetics both gear wise, character wise an most importantly world wise that is as monotone and repetitive as it gets. Slowly plodding though samey looking areas for hours on end spamming one (max 2) skill, is a recipe for mind numbing boredom; that not even the bombcast could alleviate on the second play through. And it's hackable as shit.
Diablo 3 by comparison is a well oiled masterpiece (even if it does have aspects i quite dislike like being always online and a too AH driven loot system over actual drops) Only get it if you are absolutely dying for a loot based dungeon crawler between D3 and Torchlight 2. But i would recommend Torchlight 1 and hell even Everfall over TQ anyday.
(i am mostly posting this as an alternative viewpoint to the other positive recommendations. As i believe it is a bit unwaranted and overzealous for a product that isn't all that imo)

It doesn't appear to be on sale on Steam. It is on GamersGate though.
By the way, what's the story to Titan Quest? Is there even a story? Is there more/better story than Torchlight? Because that's the number 1 reason I stopped playing Torchlight, no story at all for most of the game.

@TaliciaDragonsong: Uhhh has this sale ended? Cause for me it's £10. Unless it's not in the UK for some rasin.
EDIT: Okay now I'm super confused, the search bar shows it at £2.50 (which, totally doesn't equal 2.50 Euro but never mind) but on the page it's a tenner. Huh.
Yeah, that's throwing me off too. GamersGate still has it on sale though (at least in the states.) But on Steam the search bar says that it's a different price than it shows up on the page. So I don't know if the sale was just for yesterday on Steam and it's already ended there, or if something else is going on.

it was a daily deal. deals switch globally at the same time. that switch happened 37 minutes ago. now "hack slash loot" is the new daily deal.
Sales over, only went till like 19:00 (1 hour 40 mins ago for me).@Chavtheworld said:

@FateOfNever: It was the daily sale on Steam yesterday (August 3rd)
Titan Quest has a storyline like 'Bad overlord, kill the overlord and his minions'. In the case of Titan Quest the setting is Greek Mythology, among others, so expect titans. The story is not really complicated, but way better than Torchlight.
I hated Titan Quest.
It has the most broken/unbalanced skill systems I have ever encountered in a game.

Titan Quest > Diablo 2
Titan Quest = Diablo 3
Get it people.
doesn't work cause Diablo 2 > Diablo 3 which means Titan Quest < Titan Quest. now my head hurts.
No. Diablo 2 is rubbish.
In what way good sir?
if it was a new release then yeah D2 would not be so great by today's standards. But it was pretty dang awesome when it was new, and fwiw I don't think many people disagreed at the time with said assessment of it being awesome.

I'd even say that it still hold up phenomenally well aside from some technical things. All the annoying story stuff that you have to skip through if you just wanna play in D3 just makes it a hassle. In D2 you're just left alone if you just want to clickclickclick.
I might pick up Titan Quest from gamersgate, though ...
