I don't think it's great, but it's a nice little addition. I think R6 Siege can use as much free content as possible, since I think it should've never been a full priced game. R6 (and Overwatch) should be free to play and only cosmetics cost money just like Paladins and other games. I do like that the original characters are now free/unlocked, but the game still feels very skimpy on content and unlocking characters without paying money isn't all that possible if you're like me and only play the game occasionally, plus I only like terrorist hunt, which doesn't reward you much in currency.

Fighting the regular zombies is cool, but the big armored one is just a headache. It's not challenging, just boring IMO, since it takes so long to kill it and its attacks look pretty derpy. I'd have more fun with the mode if the armored berserker style enemy wasn't in the game or it had less health. Also, special abilities like Ash's grenade launcher, Smoke's gas grenade, etc should do more damage to it. It would be nice if all the characters were available, not just a few handpicked ones. When my friends and I are clearing buildings with the standard zombies it's pretty fun, but they need to work on the spawning system, since I've had some spawn/appear 6 feet from me when I've barricaded the room already. It's "just okay" right now, it should be a permanent mode and needs some balancing tweaks to make it very good.

When did they add it? I've been meaning to try this game out but it seems like it'd be a steep learning curve this far out from launch.

@rorie: It started yesterday (3/6/18). It's supposed to be around for only 30 days, but they put so much work in these new missions I think it'll eventually be permanent. It has a Left 4 Dead vibe a little bit, which a lot of people might like.

It's definitely got that Left 4 Dead vibe, but it doesn't do much for me. I only played on normal difficulty but holy fuck was it easy. I'll stick to the base game.

Played a couple of rounds last night and i enjoyed it for being a short game. It allows me to experiment with guns and character that i haven't unlocked yet, only started the game with little progress. Best moment for me was when i was fighting those armored hulk monster, it knocked me so hard, i went though a wall.

Played it last night and its ok but not great. its like a shittier left 4 dead. its better than i thought it would be but not good enough to ever want to play it again. The Smasher or whatever their version of The Tank is called is horrible. Also, some of the Operator choices are weird(Glaz? Why?)

Its a neat little thing but its not good enough to keep replaying and they don't give you any incentive to.

Those classes could make for an interesting Left 4 Dead/Killing Floor style game, but that zombie mode isn't it.

That's not to say that it's bad, it's fine and if you're interested in playing it and own the game, I'd say play it. But it certainly isn't something worth buying the game for and it's not something you dump a bunch of time into. Play it for novelty for a few hours and then move on.

Played it with some friends yesterday in a full party (and a bit in tts) . As a game which is pvp focused, and being tactical I'd say this is a nice edition to the game. It really does reward people for playing in a coordinated fashion that other zombie shooters don't: roaming around with silenced head shots, having a good setup, and knowing when to draw aggro from the smasher. It is a mode which needs more content as I would like more from this mode in future.

It's ok. I like the presentation of it all and it feels very cinematic. For sure, better than any of the Overwatch special event modes. The ability to sneak around instead of just blasting through enemies is a nice addition as well. One thing that bothered me was that I wish that you used a stripped down kit that focuses on this mode instead it just being copy pasted from the main game. Obviously it's a limited time event, but I did like the feeling of it. I just think there could be more and it could be better. If this happens to be permanent and worked on more, I'll definitely play it, but for now, I'm happy with my couple playthroughs of it.

If this became the story mode to this game, sign me up. I think having the crew in full cutscenes and interacting with each other in dialogue is cool to see for once. Sure it's zombies... but having them in a L4D - style campaign would be great and give something else for casual players to do.

Just played through an Outbreak scenario with a couple of friends - it was alright! VERY strong L4D vibes with the themed zombies, dialogue between operators, and checkpoint safe rooms between environments.

The thing that surprised me most was enjoying the scientist escort aspect of the mission I played. Being able to leave them in a corner when you need to deal with the shit is crucial.

I understand why it's a limited time thing (I think people will burn out on it quickly) but it's pretty damned cool as a free update.

Its fun that they gave the operators a little more character. Having thermite radio you or having your guys talk in the elevator is not what i expected.

I think its a neat little side mode and it lets Tachanka shine so I'm all for it. Making it a limited time thing is definitely the right move in my opinion. Gives people a little bit of a diversion and helps keep it focused just long enough to make sure some amount of playerbase sticks around before it wears out its welcome. Its pretty cool to see completely new maps and areas designed around a more linear experience, where the main draw of Siege is generally the dynamic play that happens in houses/buildings. It'd be nice if this becomes a little event they can turn on every now and then and not just some one off thing!

Agreed, apparently Buck is the Comedic relief character, I love the little banter adding to character to each operator, though at times its can be a bit inconsistent who speaks.

It is definitely a thing, and I do appreciate the added banter between characters. Having said that, would've preferred that they just added to Left 4 Dead 2, but Valve doesn't really make games any more so this is the best we're going to get.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I wish more operators were available for it though.
Also I find it so weird that they sunk in a lot of time and money when it's only for a limited time.

It makes me want a single player campaign, which is probably the worst idea... but still.

And Buck is the coolest. Even if he is just Sledge's Canadian/Quebecois twin.

It's competently made, but after a couple rounds I went back to regular R6. For all its polish it stills feels like a mod to a game that was never meant to be like Left 4 Dead.

It makes me wish Ubisoft would make a full on Left 4 Dead style game. I really enjoyed playing it with friends. It is surprisingly fleshed out for what is supposed to be a limited time spin off event. I went into it expecting it to be a half baked horde mode, but it doesn't feel like a mod at all. It feels like a separate game with a campaign style progression. It helps that Rainbow Six Siege already has really good and satisfying shooting. Individual zombies are resilient enough to pose a threat and don't fall apart like tissue paper like in L4D so headshots are crucial. There aren't any annoying enemy types that incapacitate you instantly like a hunter or jockey or smoker. During horde defense moments they let you fortify walls. And even outside of defense moments they still let you barricade doors and windows which will temporarily slow down any pursuing zombies and block of flanks. It really has everything that I wanted out of L4D. There's just more going on with letting you set barricades and individual operator abilities.

There's only 3 missions, roughly 30 minutes each. It's not supposed to be a mode you buy siege for. That's why it's temporary. But it is surprisingly well made and polished for what it is. If Ubisoft decided this was cool enough to make a standalone game, I would definitely play it.
