Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD
Game » consists of 8 releases. Released Jul 18, 2012
Return to skateboarding game roots in this high-definition remake of the earliest games from the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series.
If they can't use the REAL music, what should they use?
If they can't get the original music they should stop making this game, it would be completely pointless without it.
The ability to add custom soundtracks then mysteriously torrent online a "fan made" mixtape of the original music.

This isn't the original game though, it's a completely new one, just using levels from the first two.
I imagine it'd be far too difficult for them to re-licence the old soundtracks.. But we have custom soundtracks, so that shouldn't exactly be a dealbreaker for anyone.
I mean 90% of the reason I'll buy this game is for the nostalgia, but if they don't have at least some of the music from the first two games, then I'll be very disappointed
Just put the music on the the hard drive and play it from there? That's what intend to do, so I don't really care what they use.

@Ksaw: You're joking right? Fantastic soundtrack. Would you prefer Vice City without its soundtrack?
That's kind of a crazy comparison. Vice city had over 80 songs covering several genres of music. The original release of pro skater had 11 punk and alternative rock songs. I get your point though, hearing that goddamn Goldfinger song definitely brings back memories of that game.

Vice City was a post modern video game because it was set in a 80s pastiche. I highly doubt Pro Skater HD will be because Tony Hawk said that they are updating the game to reflect modern skate boarding culture which would make it lame in the eyes of people who actually want a remake for nostalgic purposes. I think skate board culture was at a high in 1999-2000 and the first two games are definitely major artefacts from that time.
Never played Tony Hawk 1, except for the levels on that Tony Hawk 2.1 or whatever for X-Box, but I couldn't take TH2 without it's original tracks.

This right here. I'm okay with additional tracks being added as long as the originals are still there.
The original music is so integral to the experience. I don't know though, I'd probably go with different songs by those bands or something.
This is true if you're nostalgic about shitty, late nineties pop punk.If they can't get the original music they should stop making this game, it would be completely pointless without it.
Licensing new music would be the best option, but adding in custom soundtracks makes this a non-issue for me.

This. Honestly, what little info we've gotten about this release seems quite lacking and the speculation on the Bombcast really dampened my spirits even more.
Personally I want the original soundtracks, the original levels from 1, 2 AND 3 (Of course some will need a little bit of tweaking for my next wish) and finally, manuals reverts and even spine transfers dammit!
It just get a really half-assed vibe about this the more I think about the release
No one has yet posted the correct answer. Since this is activision most likely.....
They would use the guitar riffs from the modern warfare trilogy and black ops. Constant dun dun dun dun DUN dun. Save on money, as this is currently a downloadable release
Reading this thread makes me sad. If people aren't willing to play a game just because the music isn't there I feel like they wanted Activision to release a soundtrack CD, not a game. You can play any music you want on Xbox360... so why not make your own soundtrack if music licensing pisses you off so much. Really, really makes my brain hurt with how people are thinking about this.
THAT IS AWFUL. You have just murdered the Chemical Brothers.
This is what it really sounds like.
It should be completely dead fucking silent. And not even allow custom soundtracks. And when you try to listen to your mp3 player, all you can hear is that horrible sound of fake skates hitting fake concrete.
Beat me to it. I need to hear the chorus from Superman over and over and over and over, for like 2 hours while in free skate mode, because somehow the songs went for an infinite amount of time. Oh N64 THPS, you were so awesome.Other 90s music would be just fine.
If they can get the original music back, though, I demand an optional N64 mode. THPS1 music is, to me, a collection of fuzzy lo-fi snippets of full songs. :D
I voted for "Other songs from different bands of the late 90s".
But in the end I don't really care as I will switch to a custom soundtrack (mostly German, British and American Punk) anyway after one or two days when I can't stand the original music anymore...
This was the case for all entries in the Tony Hawk franchise...

Whats going to be so difficult about getting the same music ?
If theres something difficult about the same music how would getting other late 90s music be any easier ?
Actually, yeah, this is really true. I can't imagine Goldfinger or whomever owns the rights to the Suicide Machines would hate a little money coming in.
