Isn't it odd that almost all people hate this demo first time around but gradually like it. I know this isn't true for all people. It's just weird.

Too Human
Game » consists of 8 releases. Released Aug 19, 2008
In this action-RPG from Silicon Knights, players take on the role of the Norse god Baldur, whose protective feelings towards humanity and refusal to augment his body with cybernetics lead the other Aesir to label him "too human".
Odd
Well, people play this demo, hoping it will suck. That's just the way it is, I mean, even Xbox 360 people hope this game will suck. But then again, it does have som learning curve(?), and when you master it, you will get the pleasure of owning. Just like Skate, but probably not that hard ; o
Many people have this impression of Denis Dyack being pretentious so they immediately assume his game is too. I've heard all these reports of the story being "pretentious". Really? You got that? In a demo? The only part I could consider being pretentious was the meeting with the Norns. And although the character models are a bit behind the times, I think the cutscene did well with the story it was trying to tell. People spooge all over Eternal Darkness now because its cool to, they probably were saying the same thing back in the day and refused to buy a copy of ED saying something like "crappy, gamecube, graphical, pretentious, Resident Evil clone".
I also love some people saying the combat was easy and boring, while others say it was too hard and unwieldy. It's different. Hence the giant diversity in experiences and opinions. If it were simply a clone of another type of game people would universally be saying that. By melding the dungeon crawler with some slightly more advanced combat, SK have created a different experience. Not necessarily one everyone will like, but it is different.
I think the comparison to skate hits the nail on the head. Too Human, just like skate, does something very different from what we gamers are used to. Skate also got a lot of criticism for it's control scheme and that it requires to actually practice before you can pull of even one simple Laser Flip. In Too Human, it takes practice or at least some experience with the controls, to really start bashing goblin heads in. When you whirl around without ever being hit and the enemies start flying left and right, you can't deny that the combat is fun, but you just don't get that by wiggeling the right stick around. Just like in skate. You might even win some contests (and finish the demo) in skate by stick-mashing, but there's no way you can finish the game like that, I guess Too Human will be very similar.
Same i didnt really like it at first but finding out that i can play all classes my love for this game grew lol, i cannot wait!
My only gripe with it, demo wise is that there is no explanation, other than base contextual clues, as to what stats do what. What does +calming do for me? Needs some Faqs, ma'am.
The game itself, i went in KNOWING that the right stick was not the camera, and so it only took a few minutes or 10 to stop trying to change the camera with it.
This is the type of demo where i feel i'm wasting my time by playing it because all this stuff i'm decking my character with and this experiance i'm gaining wont transition to the real game when I buy it.
Now thats very much unlike burnout: Paradise... crashed car, looked cool, bought game.. Easy
I loved the demo, the combat reminded me of god of war; just taking on endless enemies with a character who is the ultimate bad ass. The boss fights were sort of tricky as well, the first time you fight a troll or one of the goblins with a laser designator you have no idea what to do; so if they have bosses like that throughout the game it could keep you on your toes.
I have been waiting for Too Human for a long time and it took me one play through to "get" the controls. I imagine that some people just played it once and never bothered to learn how the game thinks.
Well, i was really hyped about Too Human.... Than i played that god awfull demo, i know people say "Give it a chance" Well i did, i completed the demo 6 time's and found all the secret room's.
I just thought the game was appaling, but Meh. If you like it cool - Enjoy the game :)
