A Fire-type Pokemon that is a starter Pokemon in the Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald games.

    Short summary describing this concept.

Torchic is a starter Pokemon in Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. When starting the game players will choose between:

    • Mudkip
    • Treecko
The shiny Torchic. Yes, you want one.
The shiny Torchic. Yes, you want one.
    • Torchic

This selection is based on Water, Grass, and Fire, respectively. Torchic is a small Pokemon, and is a similar color to fire. This is likely a reference to the fact that it is a Fire-based Pokemon. All Torchics have three feathers sprouting from the top of their head. Like all Pokemon, an extremely rare 'shiny' variant exists. The difference between the two forms of Torchic are the colors: rather than being deep orange with lighter orange parts, the shiny edition is lighter orange with darker parts. This version of Torchic is extremely rare, so finding one is very unlikely.

The in-game description for it is:

A fire burns inside, so it feels very warm to hug. It launches fireballs of 1,800 degrees F.
