Total War: Attila is the ninth entry in the Total War series of strategy games by The Creative Assembly. It was released for PC and Mac on February 17th, 2015.

Attila takes place at the dawn of the Dark Ages as the Eastern and Western Roman Empires struggle for survival and the Hunnic Empire, united under Attila, sets its sights on Europe.

While broadly similar to Rome II, the previous game in the series, Attila introduces a number of new gameplay mechanics. For the first time, players have the ability to raze buildings in the tactical layer or entire cities in the strategy layer, which forces the enemy to rebuild from scratch and inflicts a temporary resource penalty on the region. Families trees, which were absent in Rome II, return in Atilla.

    Nomadic Factions

Attila prominently features nomadic factions like the Huns, who have no fixed territory and must assault and loot settlements to survive. Nomadic armies can be improved by building camp upgrades, which provide various buffs and sources of revenue. These upgrades can only be built while an army is stationary.

Nomadic factions can become regular factions by conquering and occupying a city. Conversely, settled nomadic factions can once again become migratory by abandoning and razing their territory.
