Transformers War for Cybertron is the best transformers game ever made. That may be a controversial statement, but I stand by it. So, what makes it the best Transformers game ever? Well, for one, both the Decepticons and the Autobots are fully playable in the same storyline. Having both sides in the same story really makes it seem like an original, but authentic Transformers game.

The campaign is lengthy and the story is fleshed out nicely. However, the campaign can sometimes be a little too lengthy and cause the story to seem to drag on at times. For the most part, the story is satisfying and doesn't disappoint. Players can also recruit and friend and play through the campaign cooperatively online. At the beginning of each chapter, players can choose from one of three transformers with their own unique classes. Leaders have the biggest weapons, scientists have the ability to heal and place turrets, and scouts are the most agile. The campaign spans 10 long chapters with the first 5 being Decepticon missions while the last 5 are Autobot missions. Overall, the campaign is enjoyable, but even more enjoyable with a friend.

The environments are detailed yet a bit repetitive. While the detail of the environments is nice, it comes at a cost of a high rate of frame tearing. It can be annoying if you notice screen tearing often, but if you're like me, you hardly notice it through the action. The combat, on the other hand, is fluid, responsive, and satisfying. Never before has a Transformers game actually made a player feel like an actual Transformer. Shooting an enemy up, taking out a turret, then transforming into a jet and bombing the crap out of your enemies is simply awesome. The fluidity also lends itself nicely to multiplayer, which War for Cyberton executes amazingly.
Transformer on Transformer action never looked AND played so well.

The first mode available is called Escalation. Now, don't let the name fool you, this is basically War for Cybertron's Horde/Firefight mode equivalent. The catch here, of course, is that you are a Transformer. This mode is the only one where I experienced some considerable lag, but when played with a group of friends (the best way to play this mode) it's a blast.

The last form of multiplayer is the competitive multiplayer. This is the portion of the game that kept me coming back again and again. It is simply amazing how well Transformers fit into the deathmatch, team deathmatch, and objective arenas. War for Cybertron allows players to essentially create their own transformers with the option of various unlockable weapons, perks, and abilities. Each class also has their own set of Killstreaks which differ by means of support, direct attacks, etc. All in all, the classes are balanced nicely, and the game has lasting value thanks to the multiplayer.

So, are you convinced that this is the best Transformers game ever made yet? If you're a Transformers fan, you probably are. If you aren't, you should still definitely check the game out, because it's an awesome, unique shooter rolled up into a complete package.

Transformers: War for Cybertron: The Video Game... 0

Transformers: War for Cybertron is, from my experience, a rare thing.  It is not everyday that a game completely surprises you, providing a first rate experience, and also revitalizing your interest in a tired and seemingly hollow franchise.  Transformers succeeds at not only being a fantastic game, but also, the most successful modern reimagining of the classic 80's franchise.  Perhaps the changes may be to drastic to satisfy die hard Transformer fans, but the more casual robot lover will find...

Wage both sides of this war... 0

Introduction As a child of the eighties, it would be easy to slip into hyperbole about how fantastic the original series was, how awesome the toys were and just what those iconic characters mean to me now that I'm an old man in my early thirties, but this game has to do so much more for me than that.   It has to create nostalgia, whilst feeling fresh.   It has to compete in an increasingly crowded multiplayer world, but stand alone.   Perhaps most importantly of all, it has to do what Arkham Asy...
