It's a beta. I'm sure naughty dog were more concerned with making it playable than sprucing it up for its showcase down the catwalk. Besides as pretty poor as some character models look (like Sully and his pasty face) the environments still look really stellar, and the lighting is incredible.

I'm pretty sure the hardware has been pushed to the limits already.. low memory and old GPUs, not much more the developers can do. so dont expect better visuals, expect the same (but not less though)

If environments are larger, more things on screen, some things could get toned down. 512megs of memory is pretty fucking outdated....

It looks pretty good and a little better then the previous game with more detail and such, but yeah PS3 is old, so don't say you want the game to wow you every iteration.

I felt bad when someone made a thread calling out the stupid threads of new users, but I have definitely been seeing his point lately.

Sometimes I look at the world and it feels like the world is staring back, judging me on the future it never had. But I don't even know anymore, man. I don't even fucking know.

It looks about the same to me but its not finished some I'm betting it will look better than it is now.

Well I joined like a week ago but I barely post on these boards because Giant Bomb forums are so dead compared to the other forums out there. I hate to say it but it's true.

Looks fine to me and I can't say it would bother me if true, I have a PC to graphics whore with. I don't care if a console with outdated tech is dropping the ball a bit with visuals.

Looks at least equal to the second. Also as previously pointed out it's A. a beta so likely not near the final product which is due out in nearly 5 months, B. is multiplayer so the graphics are likely dumbed down to increase network strength. Besides watch some footage of the singleplayer, it looks incredible.

It looks great. The only significant changes I can see are better animations and faces.

Well, you'll see when the finished product comes out.

Remeber this is beta of a multiplayer. Multiplayer all ways has toned down stuff..and again BETA!

The rough animations are due to them using a new animation blending system, which is not perfected yet I assume!

I was switching between U3 beta and U2 multiplayer last night and U3 definitely looked a tiny bit worse. The beta had a lot more noticeable aliasing but it wasn't a big deal. Still looked great and it's just a beta so I don't think anyone should care how it looks now. Some of you need to chill out a bit though, no reason to go full defense force. It's going to be an amazing game and it will look great.

Actually....that doesn't apply to graphics. Out of all the betas I've played, there hasn't been one where the retail version of the game had better graphics. They all looked the same.

Counter Strike Source, Team Fortress 2, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, DC Universe, Blur

To name just a few betas I've participated in which have either had better final graphics or a better framerate (optimized graphics) upon launch. I could go on and on.

Come back in November and say this again

Really? I haven't played much but everything seems better to me. Slightly sharper textures, smoother animation, etc.

Betas are a still work in progress. Demos represent final product.
