    Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Review 0

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune tells the story of Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter, as well as a descendant of the famous historical figure Sir Francis Drake. Drake and his friend, Sully, are chasing the ancient lost city of El Dorado. Together, accompanied by journalist Elena, they follow clues in the journal that belonged to Francis Drake himself. You can expect some plot twists here and there, and for the most part, the story is great. It starts off slowly, introducing you to the character...

I wanted to like it more 3

Uncharted looks great, there is no denying that.  The story is also decent, and the gun play is functional, so why don't i like it more?   Uncharted, for those who don't know, is Gears of War meets Tomb Raider meets Indiana Jones.  The influence from Indiana Jones is in the story, and that bit is really well told.  Nathan Drake is a great action hero and Nolan North really brings him to life.  I also ended up actually liking the obligatory love interest and the villains are suitably evil.  There...

Why I (almost) quit playing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune 2

The recent price drop and new slim PS3 was enough to convince me to round out my collection of current-gen consoles, and of the already-released PS3 exclusives, the game that I was most eager to christen my new system with was Uncharted. I'm of fan of the recent Tomb Raider games because they are the closest things to an Indiana Jones game that I've played, and Uncharted seemed to take what I like about Tomb Raider and combine it with the stop-and-pop gameplay of Gears of War. How could it go w...

    ND's First PS3 Game Isn't a Masterpiece But It Doesn't Dissapoint 6

What do you get when you combine Gears of War,  Indiana Jones, and Tomb Raider? Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. What a great fusion of games, right? While this combination hasn't quite been perfected by Naughty Dog it's definitely something to build on, and it's certainly one of the funnest action-adventure games I've played.  You play as Nathan Drake, a treasure-seeking decedent of Sir Francis Drake himself. At the start of the game him and Elena Fisher, a new reporter just trying to g...

    Greatness from small beginnings 0

Naughty Dog has without a doubt been one of the biggest contributors in terms of PlayStation’s success. They introduced the world to Crash Bandicoot in the nineties, arguably one of most recognized mascots of the PS1, and made a classic in Jak and Daxter, that is still acknowledged by many as one of the best PS2 games. On November 16, 2007 “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune” for the PS3 hit the shelves. It was a completely new chapter for Naughty Dog, not just because it was on a new platform, but also ...

    The Uncharted Sausage Review 0

Uncharted: A Beautiful Disaster; well maybe that's a bit much, but it's far from perfect. The games does some things right: graphics, story, platforming; it also does some things poorly: shooting, lots of shooting...did I say shooting because it's pretty bad. I'll talk about what the game does well first and leave the not-so-happy ending for last.Graphically the game is gorgeous; it's a real looker on the PS3. The animations for Drake are smooth and life-like, but the death animations are extrem...

The ps3's definite mark on what it has to offer 0

The ps3 had a pretty rough start, and it took quite a while for it to get out of the rut it was stuck in. It's no secret and even Sony I'm sure would admit that the ps3 had a very awkward start.Soon enough though, with all the updates and some much more memorable exclusives came churning in, the ps3 was finally starting to reveal its hidden potential.Uncharted: Drakes Fortune is possibly one of the biggest boosters to get the ps3 flying off the shelves. It's extraordinary graphics had set the st...

Exploring the long lost land of the bargain bin 0

For almost two years now, I’ve been refusing to buy Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune on account of the game’s $70 asking price on the free market. While some of the praise lent to the game by friends of mine tantalized me into making the plunge, I could never bring myself to invest money in the archetypical “next-generation game.” By that term, I mean that Uncharted has cutting-edge technology, “Hollywood-esque” story and production values…and not an original idea to be found in the whole damn jungl...

Prince of Persia and the Temple of Doom 0

From the studio that brought the world platformers like Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter comes an especially jumpy third person shooter starring Nathan Drake, a youthful Indiana Jones, in an adventure that takes you to a mysterious island in search of Drake’s ancestor, the explorer Sir Francis Drake, and the treasure of El Dorado. Along with companions Sully, an older, more gruff version of Nathan Drake with a boatload of gambling debt, and resourceful journalist with a mean right hook, Elena...

Ok, Wow! Thats what I'm talking about! 0

To be honest, I wasnt really expecting much from this game. I had heard a bit about it before its release, but I wasnt planning on rushing out to get it. I happened to be on PSN, and saw the demo online. I decided just to go ahead and download it, mainly because it was free. I started playing for a bit, and I was seriously impressed. The graphics were stunning, of course, but the detail was incredible - down to Nathan's clothes absorbing the water, before gradually drying out. Plus, the gameplay...

    ...a half-tucked bleh 0

Played through in Winter 09. So…there’s this guy… he rocks a half-tucked long sleeve t-shirt and has an affinity for all things shiny, which include a spunky blond reporter and his ancestor’s lost treasure (not necessarily in that order). And so “half-tucked shirt guy” finds himself entrenched in a harrowing adventure, surviving sweaty jungles and scaling ancient ruins, escaping perilous dangers where I’m sure all that he’s REALLY thinking is, “Damn… kinda wish I packed a Tank Top…” The best thi...

Another quality exclusive game for the PS3 0

The Good – I’m a graphics whore, so you’re gonna hear me bring this up first alot. This game is friggin gorgeous! Lush, highly detailed jungle environments, incredible water effects(your character’s clothes dry before your eyes!), everything is very CG in quality. Audio runs in 7.1 uncompressed giving the game an expansive feel, highly detailed sounds and effects, close your eyes and you may feel like you’re in the jungle. Fun exploration game play channeling what made the Tomb Raider games good...

    Half-Tucked 0

Nothing dates a game quicker than its alignment with a fashion trend. Enter the half-tuck, a clothing statement brought to the mainstream by action hero protagonist, Nathan Drake in 2007 for his debut in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (UDF). What exactly is the half-tuck? It's when you tuck in about half of your shirt, starting front and center, and continuing to tuck about 3/4 of the way back on one side. The rest of the shirt hangs loose. Nathan Drake wears a plain ol' grey long sleeve T-shirt in ...

Uncharted is a game that you should play at some point 1

By now, the Uncharted series has amassed some serious fame. Uncharted 2, in particular has received critical acclaim for being one of the most exciting and best-looking adventure games in recent years. However, its predecessor, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is definitely worth checking out as well, and if you're wondering why this game is regarded a classic from the PS3's earlier days, I'm about to explain just that. It's a piece of entertainment that's not to be missed.  You can already tell what ...

A very well done, very linear experience 0

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune isn't going to throw anything new at you that you haven't seen in a video game (or a story) before, but the game does have its charms.   The gameplay for the most part consists of gun battles and platforming sequences intertwined with each other to keep things interesting. The gun play for the most part is good, the enemies sometimes feel like they can take a bit too much damage and don't really appear to react to getting shot as well as I'd like, but they generally pu...

    Uncharted Review 0

Ok, I just want to get this out of the way right now, I hate Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. You read that right, I hate Uncharted, why? It is because that any other 3rd person action/adventure game that I play, will be ruined because of the bar set by the boys and girls over at Naughty Dog. This is Uncharted for the PS3. The game takes you on an adventure where you command the role of Nate, a semi-rugged everyman who also happens to be a full-time treasure hunter with the shooting skills of a U.S....

A sign of greater things to come. 0

Nathan Drake is the perfect man. Everything he says he says with irresistible charisma, every other line that comes out of his precious lips are either sarcastically funny or funnily sarcastic and he’s built, but built in a way that looks elegant, sleek and still very manly. All that talk about him being a fallible everyman is total crap. Look at him; he personifies everything any male human being aspires to be – the wisecracking adventurer who even gets the chick at the end. If you’re one to co...

    Wonderously cinematic 0

This game is awesome. An incredibly cinematic experience, with fun gameplay, beautiful graphics, solid characters and an entertaining story. The sort of game you can really get absorbed in, and the sort of game that leaves you begging for more. An absolute must play if you own a PS3. The only gripe I have was that the enemies seemed to be able to absorb an unusual amount of gunfire before going down – it didn’t ruin the overall experience at all, but it did kind of stand out as an odd thing.    ...

BulletPointReview: Uncharted Drakes Fortune (PS3) 0

What is it? - Take the cover and gun mechanic from Gears of War, sprinkle in the exploration elements of Tomb Raider and add some Indiana Jones-esque attitude and adventuring and you're basically there.   What I liked: Water - How many times in a game when you shoot someone do they fall in the water and simply disappear? Lot's right? In Uncharted when a body falls into the water it floats. And not only that, but if it lands in say, some rapids, the body will float down those rapids. It's pretty...

    The Premiere Action-Adventure Game for PS3 0

To say Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is a great game is a massive understatement. Naughty Dog has done a phenomenal job in crafting an irresistibly fun game by weaving an intriguing tale of suspense, daring and adventure in one beautifully rendered package around a real-life legend. This tale revolves around the fabled city of El Dorado. Indeed, so tightly woven is the narrative that it almost feels real as you play through and bear witness to the events that unfold on-screen for the characters. An...

Great mixture of two genres, prime visuals and effective sound. 0

Uncharted's gameplay is a great combination of Tomb Raider inspired platforming and puzzle solving sections and Gears of War inspired 3rd-person shooter sections where you combat human enemies. But the platforming and puzzle sections are too linear, lack innovation and don't provide any significant challenge for the eye-finger coordination or any stimulation for creative thinking. On the shooter sections, the cover mechanic is useful to avoid enemy fire, but also too stiff, particularly in tig...

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune Review (PS3) 0

So, this game was supposed to be the first good shooter on the ps3.  Something that wasnt just about killing, but had its merits in storytelling as well.  Its too bad this game fails on both accounts.  First off, as a shooter, this game is a joke.  I know most of you would point to the bullet spounging by the enemies, but my biggest issue is with the cover system.  I spent the entire game looking past pillars and past things instead of gripping to them.  this made shooting enemies much easier f...

A great game, with few complaints 0

Let me start off by saying that this game is great fun.   I'm a bit late to the party. I only got a PS3 about a year back, but I've been waiting for this game to drop in price, something I would have thought would happen well before now. That just shows how liked this game has been over the past two years. And while I don't completely disagree with all the rave reviews, there are few items that bothered me throughout the game that led to some frustrating moments, especially for a completionist....

Uncharted is a game most likely basted on Indiana Jones story and Tomb Raider gameplay, which is a combination of platforming and shooting. The story is really great, but at some points you fell like you've seen this before(I had that felling) The few twist' in the story, is freaking great and I can't wait to see the second game of the franchise. The trophies(mmmmmm) I'd like to give that person who designed them a big lovely hug, 'cause they are the trophies of a shooting-game, so for example t...

    Aw crap. 0

Uncharted... Let me just say here that the game is good, great actually, I heartily recommend it. It's the best looking game I've ever played, regardless of pretty rampant pop-in problems, with amazing characterization and animation and story and blah blah blah. Really though, if you own a Playstation 3, or know anyone who does, buy this game. You can play it. It's not anything radical or paradigm shifting, but it's charming and beautiful and funny and almost self aware. It's the George Clooney...

    Almost, but not quite. 0

It has almost been a magical month for the PS3. First came Eye of Judgment, a title that betrays it nerdy hobby store roots by being much more then the sum of its parts. Then Ratchet and Clank arrived, all polished and colorful, proving that good developers make good game regardless of the system they work on. Uncharted takes these two good steps forward and raises them one step back; it is three quarters of an excellent game, but much like Indigo Prophecy and Far Cry it runs out of things to do...

I've owned a PS3 since the year it was released, yet for a variety of reasons I'd never played Uncharted until the original and its sequel were released on the Playstation Network. I've constantly been curious with myself as to why that is, especially since the demos for both Drake's Fortune and Among Thieves were some of the more entertaining, intriguing demos I've come across in my five-plus years with the system. But now that I've beaten Drake's Fortune and am coming perilously close to the en...

The foundation for one of the best PS3 franchises 0

There are not a lot of early PlayStation 3 games that can be played this late in the console's life cycle. This however is definitely one of them. Probably the best selling franchise on the PS3, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is the game that started it all. Even now 5 years later, this game still manages to impress me even after I have beaten it so long ago. It is to Naughty Dog's credit that they have made a game that can withstand the tug of age so well and it shows the groundwork for what in my ...

Derivative but great, up until the horrible ending 0

There is nothing in "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" that you haven't seen before and in most cases, done better in other games. However, the combination of gorgeous graphics, great pacing, and solid gameplay make it a very fun action-adventure game. That is, up until you reach the absolutely terrible ending, which comes close to spoiling the entire show and leaves a bad taste in your mouth in the process. Fresh off or my experience with Two Worlds, I was desperate to rid myself of the memory. I had to do something to get the taste out of my mouth, and I couldn't stomach the thought of putting in another RPG. I needed something that was sure to give me an enjoyable experience to act as a counter-balance to the trauma I had just endured. All of that is said to make this observation: my choosing of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune to fill that void was an odd choice. A total shot in the dark, I had no gua...

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is a third person action-adventure game that has you take the role of treasure hunter Nathan Drake on a quest to uncover the true fate of 16 century explorer Sir Francis Drake and the treasure of El Dorado. One of the earlier games to come out on the PS3, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune really shows off what the PS3 is capable of: from the beautiful shadows created by the canopy to the uncanny life-like water, it gets very easy to get immersed in the world. By now you probably know Nathan Drake from his exploits in Uncharted 2, but what you might not know is that he went on a little adventure about 3 years prior to that. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, tells the story of Nathan Drake a young and brave ( well mostly) explorer who, sets out on a treasure hunt with his buddy Sully. But of course it's not that simple, in fact it's quite complicated. But, to make a long story short, Sully made some bad deals and now he, Nate and a news reporter named Elena ...

Yeah, I know, I'm a bit late to the party.  For the last year in a half (almost), I've had nothing but people telling me that I need to experience Uncharted 2.  It's apparently one of the greatest games ever made, but I felt that I should get a grasp on this world of Nathan Drake before I ventured into a sequel without knowing anything about Drake or anything.    Uncharted is not a perfect game.  In fact, it's far from perfect.  Yes, the typical "Dude Raider" or "Tomb Robber" stereo-types are ve...

A brightly coloured, endlessly entertaining, warm and adventurous action game.   Uncharted, now well know for its high quality and great character was a bit of a risk when originally released by naughty dog.
