    Vairocana first appears as an exclusive demon in the PC-Engine version of Shin Megami Tensei, under his Japanese name Dainichi Nyorai. He is level 99 with 999 HP and MP.

    Vairocana appears in Shin Megami Tensei II at the Buddhist temple of Chesed, where lost souls seek salvation. The lost souls, in this case, appear as many of the characters from the original Shin Megami Tensei, as well as some former inhabitants of Arcadia. The newly admonished soul of Beth also appears before Aleph, lending him the last vestiges of her power before finally fading away.

    Though Vairocana will assault Lawfully or Neutrally aligned players, Chaotically aligned players will be allowed to leave unharmed. He goes on to tell Aleph never to attempt justifying the evils he has done.
