He did do the balloon quest. However, the pet the quest gives you cannot battle. (Granted, it's been over a year since I last played WoW, so maybe they've changed this. Balloon "pets" definitely could not battle when I was playing, though.)

Man, I'm so glad Rorie finally jumped in. The previous two episodes were far more stressful to watch than I'd like to admit. Bradley needs to hush his nostalgia and bow to Rorie's expertise more often, though. Get off my lawn, old man! ...or, uh, something like that.

I am really, really enjoying this series. I spent a lot of good time with WoW and stopped playing before I grew entirely tired of it, so I still have fond memories of my time in Azeroth. Roaming the land, grouping up with my mates, joining in the world events and just generally losing myself in another world; I don't regret any of it.

It's quite nice to see Dan experience it for the first time, even if the world he's seeing is very nerfed from the good ol' days. It takes me back. Part of me wants to somehow get in touch with those old friends and guildmates to see what they're up to.

I hope this series doesn't end after one more episode. Let's watch Dan get to 90.

[ Seriously, though: FOR THE HORDE! ]

The max level for a trial character is 20, right? Does this mean that Dan has subbed?

Oh, he must have been from the start. You'd think I would have picked up on that.

I think Brad and Rorie did way too much explaining in this episode, I thought the point of this series was to see if Dan was figuring it out. Just let the crazy man talk his crazy thoughts and give him help if he asks.

The hilarious part is that if he did that ballon quest he'd have gotten a pet

And if you're reading this Dan, auctioning all of the cloth you find is insanely lucrative. Just save a couple stacks of 20, and lowball everyone else by a couple gold and you'll be swimming in it early on.

I haven't played for about 7-8 years, but the ending to this video shows why paladins are still probably superior.

Used to love exploring Duskwood and Stranglethorn. I unfortunately played on a PvP server so I got killed by Horde players a lot in Stranglethorn.

That free Hearthstone mount seems pretty neat.

I may check this out some time next year. So much content to explore and I really like the variety of the zones. It was always cool to go from a farmer's field to Halloweentown to a jungle in a relatively short time.

I've heard from a friend that certain new players who play with friends get crazy XP bonuses that make leveling even quicker.

Duskwood and Stranglethorn had been the places to be during vanilla WoW on PvP servers, leveling trough these zones represented a really perverse challenge. Always had this scary dynamic that loved about PvP in MMO's, not every enemy player would attack, most would only be farming/questing just like oneself.

Sometimes somebody would just try start hunting people down, "gank" them when they are low from an PvE fight, usually resulting in parties forming to hunt him/them down, sometimes high level people from involved guilds joined the fight, turning a single gank into a full blown skirmish between dozens of players.

Those had been the moments i always loved about MMO's, sadly the seem to be entirely "designed away" by now :/

I really hope that they continue with these weekly check-ins. They're the one video feature right now that I immediately want to watch.

Brad is fighting really hard against the urge to play the game.

I'm probably the one who is actually considering it

If only this were true. That would be so rad. I want to see Dire Bears and Dire Owls and everything Dire.

It actually was a real creature, though it's been extinct for around 10,000 years now. Canis dirus, the dire wolf, was named in 1858, so that name precedes the use of dire wolves in fantasy fiction by quite some time.

Yeah, what? Sometimes I wonder why people still say wrong stuff on the Internet that could be easily fact-checked nearly instantaneously on the same browser they are (presumably) using to write the comment. Brad is completely correct.

That "Giantbomb" guy seems like a creep.

Come on he could have been a complete a-hole and spam messaged him but he only said "Hey" twice and then asked him if he was enjoying his time with the game and he may not have known they were recording.

Dan's adventures make me want to play WoW again but when I look at what I'd need to pay it's a real turn off.

My last expansion was Cataclysm so I'd need to buy Pandaria ($20) and then eventually the new one ($50) on top of $15/mo.

If you upgrade your account with Mysts and Warlords at the same time, I'm pretty sure Blizzard knocks $10 off. $60 instead of $70. Every little bit helps, yeah?

@larrydavis: Why should they give out the newest expansion for free to people whom haven't been supporting them for months/years? That wouldn't sit well with the more loyal paying customers who are expected to pay $50 just like everyone else.

I do second that. Fought a few monsters I definitely should not have in that game. The battles were really hard but rewarding. One with a Chimera had me scrambling around rocks for a long while feeling for my life while I whittled it down.

I know Brad is mostly joking, but come on man if this game had stayed the way it was at launch nobody would be able to get past the classic content, and into the expansions, most of which are far more interesting and enjoyable than classic WoW ever was. Now that all expansions up to Cataclysm come free with a new copy of the game you cant really blame them for wanting to get people out of the classic zones faster and into the cool stuff that has been added since.

The ongoing saga of Cerebral Ass is my third favorite thing on the site now. The other two are Demo Disc Derby and Pogs.

Yeah, Draenor being fifty goddamn dollars is really putting me off. I kinda feel like they should give you new expansions free if you haven't subbed in a long time. I have Cataclysm on my account, and don't know how that happened, since I haven't played it since WOTLK.

Okay, this was interesting, but I just hit the limit for how much more WoW I can take. I'd be up for a closure episode when Dan feels done with the feature though. I'd like to hear his thoughts at the end and see how far he got.

If there's only one more episode in this feature I will cry for a figurative 3000 hours.

Needs to be Dan's adventure to 90 and beyond if he thinks he'll continue to play in his private time. I cracked up so many times listening to GI videos where he'd refer to RPG guys as dorks and crack up at himself. One of us. One of us.

Rorie said he didn't have any mail when the mail icon was on the screen. I'm sure his mail box is overflowing with good stuff from users. Probably good that he's leaving it alone though as it might make it too easy for him.

I like how Dan thinks 14 silver is a lot of money to spend repairing his stuff.

Don't know how/why Dan travels around with no health potions, bandages, or food. I remember getting potions at the auction house for pretty cheap.

Used to love exploring Duskwood and Stranglethorn. I unfortunately played on a PvP server so I got killed by Horde players a lot in Stranglethorn.

This series is constantly making me want to resub for a month. It's excruciating hahaha. The last episode I wanted to grab the keyboard out from under Dan and say "No, not like that, let me do it! No you're DPS, go attack! GAAH!" That being said, Dan, keep up the good work I love it!
