I poked around a bit through the video. I really like what I'm seeing. I'm hoping the PC requirements are in line with my rig, though I'd be more than willing to play it on PS4. I just want to play it, dammit.

@theacidskull: Can't say the same sorry, i've also gone back through the Walking Dead choices and the effects of your choices frequently either didn't change anything, changed only the immediate dialogue interactions, and all were eventually ground to nil by subsequent episodes. Nowhere else is it more apparent then in the mid episode shooting or that final episode discussion or the arm thing, etc. I am not saying there are no effects at all, but overall they are minor. I never felt any freedom. Haven't finished the Wolf Among us episodes yet, so can't fully comment on those.

Out of curiosity you seem to be looking forward to the Witcher 3, but have you not played the previous entries? If you like choices in games, you should really check them out, at least gice the second game a whirl.

Well, sometimes it can be tricky, like for example, some of the choices you make do change a lot of things, but then there are dudes like Ben, who die no matter what you do. I've found that the key factors are the relationships, apparently, I've heard there is a sequence when Kenny doesn't help you in the ind, if you chose to side against him all the time. Agree to disagree I guess.

I was planning on playing Witcher II, but then it was region locked for my damn console(dumb mistake >_>), and since I live in Georgia(not the state), it's hard finding non-pirated games here. I might try it again since I recently found a good store for these original games( they were old out for WItcher II tho), but just to put it out there, I wasn't planning on playing Witcher III, until I heard that it was a stand alone story, and it was kinda hard to refuse given the awesome footage mixed with the sudden RPG surge I have.

I'd suggest Telltales the walking dead and the wolf among us. Also, considering that they said that The witcher III has 36 endings, I doubt it's going to be your typical good/evil choices. As @oldirtybearon described it to me, it's grey and grey morality more than anything else.

But you're going to have to wonder if they are multiple endings like Chrono Trigger has multiple endings, or multiple endings like Dragon Age: Origins has multiple different paragraph of words during its epilogue.

Well lets hope for the best.

You'll excuse me if I don't have much confidence.

Take Witcher 2 as a baseline and assume they will improve on that style a little at least. That's the most logical and safest bet. It had 16 endings, (8) after enhanced edition content patch.

36 endings is only realistic if that includes a permutation of several choices. It's always like that. Some will likely be more meaningful then others. But you only need to add 2 extra major choices from the amount you had in the previous game, to bring it up to 8x2x2=32 already. Or if it has to be 36 exactly it can be 2x2x3x3, four major choices, two of them with 3 options. Animal house style endings are usually the norm, Fallout, Witcher 2.

No, knock that shit off. Those aren't fun game play choices to make in any sense of the word.

Yes they are. I want the choices to actual have consequences. I don't want it to be like Skyrim where you can do pretty much everything yet none of it means a thing.

They sound like games you want to play, but then they turn out to be the same good/evil toggled bullshit that we've always had. It always puts me so off of a game when I can see the mechanic staring me right in the face -- "press RT for paragon LT for evil!" or "do this mission and save the girl; do that mission and save the boy!".

Things need to be more complex, more nuanced, have more variety. The choice and result need to not be telegraphed to the player. I want to play a game where I make hundreds or thousands of little choices that all have an impact that is not obvious to me as a player.

That's why the shitty Mass Effect 3 ending was so funny. We all lost our shit over it, yet it didn't do anything except make light of exactly how every other game is played.

I'd suggest Telltales the walking dead and the wolf among us. Also, considering that they said that The witcher III has 36 endings, I doubt it's going to be your typical gevil choices. As @oldirtybearon described it to me, it's grey and grey morality more than anything else.

The Witcher series was always about grey and gray morality, some foreseen and some unforeseen consequences, with no correct choices and a lot of branches. So I don't understand where this good/evil talk is even coming from in regards to this series. Telltale games are frankly a shadow of the choices and consequences offered by the Witcher games, it's one thing that actually irked me a bit when it was praised in the Walking Dead when all I saw were largely meaningless choices with little to no consequences.

I can't really agree with you on that one, having played both Wolf among Us and the walking dead more than once, I have to say that what you do definitely affects the game in meaningful ares. Sure there are certain aspects that you can't really change but it's justifiable because it is a written game after all, but I can't really take away the freedom it gives you.

I've always been able to enjoy a good game even if I hate the protagonist, except with The Witcher games. As much as I want to explore this world, there's no way I could spend more than half an hour with Geralt.

That actually leads to something else all together though. Given the vastly different endings you can have in Witcher 2 in terms of the geopolitics of the north, how is that actually going to be reflected in 3?

My guess is that it's not gonna matter that much aside from referencing those events from time to time and maybe having a few tie in quest possibilities. After all the main action in Witcher 3 happens in the south in Nilfgard as Geralt is trying to track down the Wild Hunt and no matter what Nilfgard has invaded the bickering northern kingdoms.

@jonny_anonymous: This is why I enjoy the Witcher games so much, actual consequences to decisions that meaningfully affect the story/quests. This also results in much better writing/storytelling since some actual thought has to go into it. Just like you mentioned games like Skyrim (or recent Bioware games) have a bunch of lazy quests that do nothing or very little to help make an unique and interesting story.

Not at all what I was talking about. The split for chapter 2 in Witcher 2 was perfect, but that doesn't sound like simply picking time limited quests in a quest hub of the game.

That actually leads to something else all together though. Given the vastly different endings you can have in Witcher 2 in terms of the geopolitics of the north, how is that actually going to be reflected in 3?

As a Welshman, I find endless amusement in The Witcher 2 (and as evidenced by this video, The Witcher 3) being rammed full of my homeland's various regional accents. It's one of the extremely few series I've played that has any at all.
