Damn son it's like open world of Elder Scroll with the details of Assassin's Creed

I never got into Witcher 1, so didn't pay the second much mind.

These games seem to get exponentially better.

I expect the Witcher 4 to be the best selling game of all time, form a new competitive e-sports scene, and bring peace to the Middle East.

As a Welshman, I find endless amusement in The Witcher 2 (and as evidenced by this video, The Witcher 3) being rammed full of my homeland's various regional accents. It's one of the extremely few series I've played that has any at all.

As a fellow Welshman I couldn't agree more. Given how rare Welsh accents are in games I found it hilarious how some villagers in Witcher 2 sounded like they'd wandered out of the valleys. Glad to see the trend continued in Witcher 3!

The Welsh accent is the most inherently comedic sounding accent, imo.

We really need a movie about Anthony Hopkins, Catherine Zeta Jones and Christian Bale just talking to each other in their native accents.

I'm plotting to have a new race horse computer built in time for this game, I want to be able to turn all of the graphics settings all the way up so I can see it in full glory and still have it play like butter

So, I have a 660ti graphics card in my PC and also a PS4. What do you guys estimate will look better? My PC or PS4?

I think it will be roughly the same. The difference being that the PC will give you some flexibility where you can sacrifice certain graphical features in exchange for better performance in others. The PS4 version, obviously, will not allow for such tweaking.

@turambar: sure it is. It makes for a different gameplay experience for everyone, and for multiple playthroughs. I had a friend who beat the Witcher 2, twice, and he never even had an idea that Saskia was the dragon. Because even though he played more than once, they're so many choices that affect that storyline.
I think it's awesome.
also.... spoiler alert

Perfect GIF. The witch pulls the dagger from her butt and then gives it to the Witcher, who then proceeds to put it in his butt.

Since playing The Witcher 2 I've been able to finish reading all the books preceding it, so I'm incredibly excited that this game will finally start tying that stuff together. Might want to re-read them though, just in case.

This game looks amazing. My one complaint so far is how there's no moments of silence. They seemed to put so much care into the ambient sounds like birds chirping and the sound of the wind but the music was making it hard to hear. Hopefully it doesn't play all the time. The music sounded good so I don't want to have to turn off the music entirely.

Absolutely this! That's the point of The Witcher games, your decisions have true weight behind them and you have to at least think before acting. There's no "Good" or "Bad" there's just intuition and sometimes rolling the dice.

Replaying TW2 and seeing the other side of the Roche/Iorveth paths was a ton of fun. You get to pick between several "gray" options as opposed to BLUE/GOOD and RED/EVIL and yet they can have more of an impact on the world than the games that offer those two paths.

Going for a more neutral Geralt also makes a ton of sense considering his character and is actually an option that makes sense to pick, unlike in most games.

I think this is probably my most anticipated game of this year. Also holy crapballs, my life would be complete if Vinny did an endurance run or any extensive coverage of this game. I think it would be great content!

I got the first games on a steam sale a while back but I have not been able to get into them like I got into Dragon Age or Skyrim. I am not a huge fan of the protagonist and you cannot create your own character. Also the combat is not to my liking in either games. I want to love the games since I usually love RPG's but I cannot.

You do get to really like Geralt, at least I did. The combat is challenging. You have to actually think about what you are going to do, a lot more than say Skyrim or Dragon Age. The Witcher 2's world and characters were absolutely fantastic, especially after the initial town. Also depending on what choice(s) you made. I would highly recommend giving the Witcher 2 another chance. If you like RPGs, I have no doubt once you start to understand Geralt and the combat, you'll love it like so many others!

I try not to get hyped up for games anymore, but uh, HOLY SHIT I WANT THIS.

I feel like he made the wrong choice when it came to that heart thingy, I wouldn't have trusted it, but I would have at LEAST heard it out. Still, FANTASTIC gameplay demo, makes me want to play the game so badly. It feels like a crime that I'm getting 20% off of it.

@jarmahead: Most games in which the player make "choices" really pull their punches, and lack any real consequence for those decisions. I agree with you that it's great that the Witcher franchise has meaningful player choices.

No, knock that shit off. Those aren't fun game play choices to make in any sense of the word.

Could not agree less. This is why many people go to the Witcher franchise: choices that matter, and not in a way that is always apparent.

I have to say until this video I wasn't too excited for this game. The other entries in the franchise have had too many roadblocks for me to really love, but this looks to be hugely improved in every way. Even the combat looks to be at least tolerable. But if all the quests are that in-depth and interesting, I'm going to enjoy the hell out of this game. The quality of the writing and designs and the facial animations and voice acting was a half step below a good GoT episode.

My only issue is that the visuals aren't quite as impressive as a lot of the screenshots we've seen, particular the environments in the distance. And while some of the fog looks really nice, there's also that awful blue simple cheap fog that looks ridiculous and looks like a holdover from Witcher 2. That first area just didn't really impress me, visually. I have to wonder if this is the PC version we're seeing here or if the settings were toned down for performance or something.

The characters, faces, and hair and stuff all looked great but the first environment looked pretty much on par with Witcher 2. Maybe not even that.

So, I'm a huge Witcher fan...but I think anyone, even non-fans, can admit that it's always a good sign of confidence when a developer is willing to show so much gameplay.

I really have not gotten lost exploring the world in a RPG since Skyrim. I remember wishing Skyrim had good combat and meaningful choices like the Witcher 2 aaaannnnnnnnnddd granted. Looks really good from what I just saw.

I'm really excited for this, I hope the quality matches the quantity with the game, because the Witcher 2 was rather small, but very well done. As for choices, I thought Witcher 2 exceeded all the Bioware games and their 'good and bad' aspects. A significant number of choices are not easy to make because there's no clear good/bad, or sometimes the paths simply branch and you need to decide what matters to you more.

This is more of a open world game then W2. They said the map is 20% bigger then Skyrim.

Yes they are. I want the choices to actual have consequences. I don't want it to be like Skyrim where you can do pretty much everything yet none of it means a thing.

I'd suggest Telltales the walking dead and the wolf among us. Also, considering that they said that The witcher III has 36 endings, I doubt it's going to be your typical good/evil choices. As @oldirtybearon described it to me, it's grey and grey morality more than anything else.

But you're going to have to wonder if they are multiple endings like Chrono Trigger has multiple endings, or multiple endings like Dragon Age: Origins has multiple different paragraph of words during its epilogue.

Well lets hope for the best.

You'll excuse me if I don't have much confidence.

Considering the quality of the last game, I don't see why you wouldn't.

Chapter 3 was the Witcher 2's weakest part.

Too bad 90% of this demo we already saw at E3/Gamescom/SDCC via the trailers they have shown to the public..only the last 10 minutes are actually new footage.

Even so..seeing this game downloaded from Gamersyde and in proper 1080p it's just glorious.

I'm so hyped for this game is insane.

Wow, this all looks really great. It seems to play better than the last one, and it looks even better, while having no loading. And the designs of everyone, from Geralt's new face to Johnny's eyes and how disgusting the old crones are... It just looks very good and convincing in a way I didn't think "realistic looking" characters were during the last generation, not even for the Witcher 2. It'll be a while until I get myself a ps4 or even a new pc, but I'm looking forward to playing this.

Can't get enough of the stream effect on the fire spell.

Looks impressive, I guess I should finish the witcher 2... I've re-started that game 4 times now -_-

one thing though, Was it me or was all the audio absolutely exhausting, there isn't a moment of silence, even when there's nothing going on, strings, choirs, people's chatter... by the end I sort of wanted it to just shut up.

Definitely. It was really strange how the ambient music kept going during cut scene dialog. Hopefully it's something that'll be addressed between now and release.

Other than that though, game looks incredible. Can't wait for February!

@bybeach: No, Johnny (and a few other NPCs) had a definite West Country / Somerset accent, all of the Sisters had different Welsh accents, and there were a few other Northern English ones too. There were almost no Southern English accents (which are normally the go-to selection for games with non-US accents).

The localisation team at CD-Projekt Red are pretty top notch when choosing the right sound for each character depending on their background in the world. Christ even King Henselt and Saskia in The Witcher 2 have comparatively "posh" South Wales / Cardiff accents and they work really well.
