After all the time Danny spent talking up this track on the podcast I'm very hyped for this.

Is there a trick to getting F1 2014 to work with Windows 10? I purchased it during the Steam sale and could not get it to launch, so I asked for a refund.

Alternatively, should I just buy 2013 instead? It's not on sale.

@architecture: nothing I know of. I use Win 10 and also bought F1 2014 during the steam sale and have no problems (a friend of mine also reported no problems). Could be your PC specs or some other problems with a conflicting application (like an anti-virus or some kind of remote desktop or whatever). In other words, no idea man but that sucks. For what it's worth F1 2013 is a pretty good game and has a few old tracks and old cars that aren't in 14.

Good luck!

@bungalowbill79 It's definitely not my PC specs (running an OC'd 4670K, 16GB RAM, MSi R9 390). It simply would not launch.

I would get the little dialog box that pops up when you start a game in Steam, but it never progressed from there. Occasionally it would even get stuck in a loop and try to open itself over and over but to no avail.

I only use Windows Defender for antivirus and try to keep my system tray pretty tidy. Googling so far was no help.

I'm afraid that I'll have the same problem with 2013 if I try it as they're essentially the same game with some mildly different content and car setups, from what I can tell.

@kasaioniI like Project CARS well enough, but the track selection feels pretty lacking in that regard.

@architecture: That's a good point. But to be honest, I can't say I'm itching to play any specific race track that's part of the F1 series. But if the selection in general is just low that's a shame.

Red Bull will, at some point in the future, own the rights to cars driving fast in a circle.

Glad to hear Drew is catching some MotoGP races as well. The race he refers to was last weeks race in Assen where they had heavy rainfall, I was amazed at how fast they go in the wet on two wheels.

@kasaioniMost of the tracks you'd want for a more comprehensive racing game are there, including Laguna Seca, but I mostly want to tool around GP tracks in an open-wheel car.

Project CARS is much more akin to Forza or Gran Turismo, though it's not quite as good as either. It does have wheel support, however, which Forza 6 Apex does not--for shame, Microsoft.

I might just re-buy F1 2014 and see if I can't get it to work; $10 seems like a good price for that game.

@architecture: Yeah, maybe I should buy an older F1 game and see how I like it. Although I do also want to drive cars other than F1-style vehicles, so Project Cars is still enticing to me.

@kasaioni: I'd recommend F1 Championship Edition if you've got a PS3 or F1 Challenge 99-02. Project Cars isn't really for F1, it's focused more on GT style racing and Spec racing. It's more of a racing sim whereas Forza and GT (at least until GT sport) are more of driving sims where it puts more emphasis on production cars.

@kasaioni: As an avid F1 2015/Project Cars player I can tell you that the track selection for Project Cars is hands-down the best in any racing game I've played. I genuinely don't understand how anyone could find it lacking.

It has an enormous amount of variation, both in terms of tracks and cars, and even includes a few great F1 circuits. It has Silverstone, Spa, Monaco, Nürburgring, Hockenheim, Monza and a weird unlicensed version of Suzuka.

Besides F1 there's also 5 tiers of formula cars and Le Mans spec prototypes. Lastly, it's a blast driving an F1 car around tracks that are not on the calendar.

Don't know if you can tell but I quite like Project Cars :P

@vindtumijtelang: Does Project Cars have both F1 cars that are pre-2013 V8's and post-2013 V6 turbo engines?

@heatdrive88: It has a car which I believe is based off the 2011 Ferrari.

It has around half a dozen classic cars as well though from the 60s/70s/80s
