Capcom's Updating DmC, Devil May Cry 4 for Xbox One, PS4

They didn't remake DmC because they know it was shit, DMC 4 was shit too but at least we get to play as real dante..

I liked DmC a lot but already played the PC version, not sure if I would play it again just to see the changes. I guess I haven't ruled it out.

DMC 4 is old, I barely remember it other than being annoyed at the reuse of stages and bosses. I guess if I were to revisit it I'd want to to it on a console I have plugged in though, not ruling it out either.

DmC was good. It actually had a character arch, which most games completely ignore. The combat was fantastic. If it had been named anything else, all the haters would have probably enjoyed it. Instead, I have a feeling they hate on it without having played it, or they take the Dante from the beginning of the game, and as with most video games, don't consider that he may be a different person by the end.

This industry and sequels. At least Hollywood stops at three for the most part. I'm glad Ninja Theory has been a one and done company.

You're not alone, Patrick. It's my favorite in the franchise. It's the first time I feel like they did something meaningful with the crass, childish protagonist. They gave him humility, depth, and growth. Not to mention it was killer stylistically, and a blast to play. With environments and gameplay that compliment the narrative, it's an extremely rare game because it works so cohesively.

What i really want is a new DMC following what happened to vergil after DMC 1 , they said he died, but i don't believe that .

I like DmC a lot but that PC version was already pretty amazing, not sure I see a lot of appeal in a new console port.

Advertising 60fps for a Devil May Cry game is lol-worthy. 60fps was a standard for Devil May Cry going back to the PlayStation 2 in 2001. DmC is hot trash and always will be.

This game was fun. Too bad not a lot of people gave it a chance. I actually like Dante just as much, maybe more, than original Dante.

if they fix the terrible backtracking, touch up the weak story and add back all the cut out content like Dante's arc, this could dethrone DMC3 as the best game in the series. am definitely MOTIVATED

@violegrace: Good job with the reading comprehension and ability to watch to the end of the video. This is about both DmC and DMC4. They are both being remade. DmC in March, DMC4 in summer.

DmC was the best game in that series without a doubt. Always thought dawnte was a shit character prior to the reboot, but in DmC he was great. Hopefully sales of this will lead to a DmC2.

DMC4 was brutal. But if it dries the tears of the Dante white hair knights while I quietly enjoy Ninja Theory's superior reboot, its reissue is more than welcome.

I loved DmC. It was by far my favorite Devil May Cry game, and I adored the original so much I finished it at least five times, once on Dante Must Die mode. Already owning the PC version with Vergil DLC (which was pretty lackluster), though, I'm not sure there's much incentive for me to spend money on this.

I'm kind of sad now that I played through DmC this year over the summer. Still a great game, but way too many other games to play.

Also I hope they bring this up next Bombcast so we can get another 10 minute discussion about why Capcom isn't making any new games.

I mean, I'm not against up-rezs or remakes or whatever, but the sheer amount that are coming out on the current generation of consoles relative to actual games that are exclusively current-gen is sort of ridiculous and maybe a little scary right now. Doubly so within the context of many of these company's financials, and Capcom's in particular.

@triumvir: Well, the main reason why is Capcom is doing it is because their financials. The good thing is that seems to mean that would be a major rework on both accounts and not just ala Capcom update release.

As much as I love DMC4, I kinda want DMC5 right now, been far too long. I skipped DmC so may pick that up

Dunno if i still care to even try DmC especially after the whole noise between both sides on that game.

But a remaster of DMC4 now, its been a LONG time since DMC4, so i wont mind replaying that game especially if they are adding goddamm vergil, as for how the story played out in 4, Its pretty crazy to see that they are adding Vergil.

I really wish both consoles had included backwards compatibility so we could have avoided all of this money grabbing nonsense. I bought this game on PC for $10 and it ran at a higher resolution than 1080p back then.

Even pretty mediocre PCs were able to run DmC at max settings with over 60fps; it really was extremely tame in terms of system requirements. I feel like almost anybody with a PC made in the last 4 years can probably get an equal experience out of DmC without having to pay (I'm guessing) full price for this re-release. DMC4 is another thing entirely, obviously.

Regardless, this makes me excited that there might yet be a future for the franchise.

Well I can only hope that Vergil is somehow an extension or Nero just so people get angry for no reason again.

I really hated the dumb storytelling, characters, and humor in the old Devil May Cry series, and while the "reboot" may not have (supposedly) had the same depth of gameplay, I found every other aspect of the game infinitely more enjoyable.

I loved the way it played personally, I thought it had one of the best new game+ modes Ive seen in a while.

Not terribly interested in this however, Id like to support the series, but as you guys have mentioned, I doubt its much better off than the PC version I played.

I had kinda hoped for Dragon's Dogma, but sure... I'll take it.

Loved the pants off DMC, would love to see a sequel sometime in the future. Played through again for a fourth time this year and it's still a blast to play.

Ninja Theory deserved more credit for DMC, so happy it's getting a re-release.

I spent dozens of hours with the PC version of DmC this year, unlocking all the achievements. It's one of my favorite third-person action games ever. It looks like there are some new game modes that might be interesting to play. I wonder if the PC version will get those new modes.

More than simple enhanced ports. It's pretty cool to see Capcom and Ninja Theory putting real effort into these by adding completely new game modes. I'm such a bitch for extra costumes that I will absolutely buy DmC for the third time just for the DMC1 Dante outfit (best outfit IMO). Wonder if these will come to Steam.

DMC4 is a really weird thing to re-release at this point, considering how old it is. I wonder if this is some kind of test to see which direction the series should take if Capcom decides to make another game. DmC2 or DMC5?

I really like Ninja Theory as a developer, I'm replaying Enslaved for the PC at the moment and would really like to give DmC a go at some point.

All this does is make me want to play Bayo2 and W101 even more.

DMC4 was also on PC, and was also the definitive version by far, and it also ran on a toaster.

DMC4 has the best, deepest gameplay out of all the DMC games. DMC1 is a bit dated by now, and the only thing DMC3 has over it are some better bossfights.

DmC was decent, even if it wasn't as good as DMC1, 3 and 4. (Don't ask about DMC2, it never happened)

Like the newer Platinum stuff like Bayonetta 2 and Revengeance it was clearly designed so that on the normal difficulty everyone can get through it without fully understanding the mechanics, but unlike those once you're replaying and trying to actually master the gameplay it doesn't quite hold up. And playing for mastery is the ultimate goal of these games. It's like Shmups or fighting games, or something like Spelunky if you can relate to that more :P

I realize that most game reviewers don't really have the time to play games that way, but I feel it means they're also sometimes missing the forest for the trees.
