Choose Our Own Adventure!: 10/14/2015 (Life is Strange)

I'd love to see more Life is Strange. I have really dug the game myself and seeing you guys play through it is great so far.

Please continue! It was great! I don't know where the thread is and will probably miss the next vote.

It wasn't that well received. It certainly didn't review amazingly (7s and 8s across the board) so to act like its critics are in a losing battle with some juggernaut is really silly and overstating things.

There are plenty of 7 out of 10 games that I absolutely adore and worship, but I don't act like they should be immune to receiving criticism in a manner I deem inappropriate. It doesn't work that way.

For the record, I was one of the people that really didn't want this to win the vote because it feels like really well worn territory and I feel like the rest of the internet over-publicizing it has made up for GB's lack of coverage.

I hope you guys keep playing this, the game only gets better from here on out.

@zeeman155: It's SO tough, because we need to check in to make sure the stream is still working properly, but you're also right that trolls will spoil stuff for us! It's not like the West coast here, where we have someone dedicated in the control room making sure that things are solid, you know? So I'll probably need to continue checking chat once ever few minutes or so, and just hope that people aren't being jerks!

All I want for christmas is for you guys to keep going with this game. This game has made me laugh and cry genuinely. You guys are hilarious as fuck and this video reminds me why I fucking love giant bomb so much. Vinny trying to fuck around and make the game self-aware at every single turn. Alex's ego-less sarcastic comments "Looks like she took too many hits of molly". Can't forget Austin's questioning nature and ability to find good in all things as well as the bad hidden behind our social norms. No matter where you all go I will follow.

Actually this game is kind of funny. I would play it if it had GB East's commentary.

I will take a game like this anyday over some generic shooter.

I don't know quite how I feel about this game. Every character we've met so far is sociopathic or despaired, and the world has the sickly feel of Eraserhead.

This is going to amazing.

Please carry on with the series. It would suck to see most of episode 1 but then jump onto another game without finishing the rest of the episode (and season).

I've just started playing the game too and it's fun to watch you guys play an episode after I've finished it. I did the same thing with Until Dawn, although it's not quite as much fun with this because the time-travel mechanic in Life is Strange does sort of negate some of the choices you make (as you can just rewind to see them both).

Vinny said they'll open another forum post for voting next week. The voting post for this one went up on Tuesday and was named "Giant Bomb East is Listening!" <-- Guessing it will be similar next week.

It's not like this is the only time they'll ever do this, they plan for this to be a regular feature so you'll get more chances to see Phantasmagoria 2! :)

Guess I should have voted cause I despise this game. Rarely have I holistically hated a game's characters and setting more than this game, and I even liked Remember Me (the studio's last game) quite a bit.

Please play more of this! I've played through the released episodes myself and still love seeing you playing it.

I personally think this is one of the best games this year and would be sad if you even wouldn't bring this up during the GOTY discussions.

Keep playing 'life is strange'. This game goes places and is a real gem.

I'm so glad that they found the Final Fantasy: Spirits Within moment in this episode.

This series is perfect for you guys to keep playing it goes to some really interesting places. Some people have highly criticized the dialog writing, I don't feel it is that bad and there is even a smart self referential joke about Chloe's choice of words in the 4th episode. It was really smart to take the best element of Remember Me, the time scrubbing stuff and build an adventure game around that. There really isn't anything like this series right now, the school life stuff kinda gives me some of the same feeling that Bully did. They don't always hit the mark but they get close enough that I have really enjoyed every episode.

I hope the GBE guys will be able to resist going too far into MST3K mode as they (surely) continue to play this. This game is best enjoyed if you allow yourself to get invested and engaged by the story and the fairly large cast of characters, rather than always be looking for something to make fun of.

Also, one thing to remember when playing LiS: Never allow to the game to rush you into not exploring. Sometimes, the game will trick you with a sense of urgency that leaves you missing some cool bits.
