For what it's worth, I think the GBeast guys themselves seem pretty into this game and would likely not mind seeing it to its conclusion.

Favorite series on the site at the moment. Definitely hope they continue with LiS, whether in this feature or on Playdates. It's going to be really interesting as the episodes move forward, they only keep getting better and better, and the guys already seem to be enjoying themselves and wanting to continue. The 'hey, we wouldn't mind if you guys vote for this again' tag at end is going to be weirder and weirder.

This game is fantastic, please keep playing it! 8)

I think it is pretty disingenuous to blame the fanbase of this game. I mean, if you want to place a blame on why this game is getting voted forcibly (and it's only been two streams), it is the Giant Bomb Community. It's not like the fans of this game are are creating GB accounts to purposely vote for this game.

I always took that as her planning to con him out of the money, or at worst get him super drunk and steal his wallet.

And yes, she doesn't make the best decisions.

It's not actually a plot hole. There is a very good story reason for it and to find out you have to keep playing (watching).

I'm also having issues. The video won't even start for me. I've been having problems like this the past couple weeks with GB videos freezing up and changing quality usually fixes it, but not this time.

I'm just starting episode 4 and it's been addressed through reading a file in episode 3. Something I could see them missing or glossing over, especially if they're towards the end of the segment and wanting to cut it. Game's similar to Gone Home where reading everything really helps you get the most out of the game, and probably one of the things I like most about it. Anyways, do they go further into it in 4 or 5?

I'm all for GBE seeing this game to completion but I agree, totally defeats the purpose of this particular feature, no need to dance around it.

That said, I'm continuing to love this post-Contradiction world we will live in with Alex and the chat pointing out the covered mirrors.

@johnymyko: I don't disagree with your suggestion that the voting segment is kind of redundant since it'll mostly end with them playing games through to completion, but I'm not sure that's specific to this game. That is to say, even if they were playing an entirely different game, there would be a similar crowd of people that would dislike that game just as much. Since they only have a finite amount of time to make content in a week, doubling up might not be an option. Instead, they might want to consider soliciting votes after they feel a game has run its course instead. That way, at least people don't feel as if they're constantly fighting against the popular opinion.

Then there doesn't need to be a weekly vote.

I agree with this sentiment. I'm all for them continuing through Life is Strange, but it was a foregone conclusion that it would win the vote again, and will most likely until they've finished. They should probably do this playthrough separately from the Choose Our Own Adventure! feature.

I was kind of hoping this feature would be a chance for them to bounce around from week to week; sometimes playing something new, sometimes playing something old(ancient, even). It's a good opportunity to get some coverage on games that they don't have a Quick Look, Unfinished, or even an Encyclopedia Bombastica planned for.

COOA's a cool thing but let's face it, it'll never please everyone.

Either one game will get voted through until completion like LiS (but it totally deserves it because LiS is amazing) and freeze out people who aren't interested in it, or they'll start but never finish games that people would like to see through to the end.

And they can't just spin off every good/interesting game they play into it's own series, that'd start stacking up way too much.

I think you're projecting something here, no one is being forced to do anything. People want to see them play Life Is Strange. There isn't some cult cheating the system, getting people to vote for a game they don't want, and bullying anyone who doesn't vote for it. If you really think it's a problem like you said apparently A LOT of people don't like this game. Then get people to start voting for something else. That's what voting is about.

If that whole mess of people you mentioned really feel like you they'll vote for what they want. You can't seriously think the game is getting voted on because it's fanbase is some malevolent force pulling the strings to get exposure on a relatively small livestream. Hell at a certain point instead of trying to be a victim of the Life Is Strange scheme, maybe realize this feature isn't what you wanted it to be in the first place.

The game has a dedicated fanbase with people wanting others to support it, and that's a bad thing to you? The game is getting popular for being a different take on the modern adventure game mechanic, and tackling young people issues in an interactive medium that hasn't really been done this seriously before.

You don't like it? Great! Don't get upset because more people like something you don't. Will you still be complaining if a different game from LiS gets picked, but it's still not the one you want? If not, then I was right, you're projecting some weird grudge on a game that gets literally no attention on the site itself. You don't have to even watch, especially since this isn't the only content they'll be putting out.

Which is why this series is probably better suited to shorter games that can be summed up in one QL-length video, as opposed to the heavy narrative adventure stuff that they've leaned on recently. I don't know, it's a new thing they're trying and I'm just wanting to see if we can make it work better.

I'd love a Phantasmagoria Playdate as much as a lot of other people, but I wouldn't want it for this format for the same reasons.

It's called "Choose Our Own Adventure". The entire point is to check out heavy narrative adventure stuff. Someone's gonna be unhappy no matter what they do, so as long as they themselves are enjoying whatever they're doing, they're doing it right as far as I'm concerned.

They never once declared that as the goal or restriction, in spite of the name. The point was to vote on a game every week. If it's a foregone conclusion that it's going to be the same game until completion, that's fine, but then they probably don't need to bother doing a new vote every week. That was the point I was making.

Is this something that someone has actually stated, or are you going on what you hope the feature to be? Because, for me, the title is just a play on words: people vote on what they want to see next, hence choosing their own adventure collectively. Otherwise, why aren't Encyclopedia Bombastica videos written down as a proper encyclopedia? Why are Quick Looks so long? Why are Unprofessional Fridays so scheduled and organized? It seems to me that you've decided on yourself that that is what this feature is about and everyone who doesn't agree is automatically wrong. Besides, hasn't Vinny hinted at Kerbal Space Program being played in the near future? Definitely not an adventure game.

I was hoping this would be more of a one-off game per sitting, to be honest. I was waiting for Episode 5 to be released so I could play all of Life is Stranger together, so I guess I'll have to wait until I've beaten the game to see this feature.

I find it weird how GBeast are shitting on Warren when he's been the only character in the game so far to stand up to a bully. That and Max just ditched him while he got the shit kicked out of him and didn't even seem the least bit concerned.

So far I'm thinking Max is the biggest asshole in the game so far.

This seems like a great game. I know there's a vocal minority bitching about this game. (As there's always some groups bitching about 'arty' or 'pretentious' game.) But I don't care if this get spinned off or continue as 'Choose your own adventure', just play it til completion. I want to know where this go and I want to see the GBeast crew experience the whole thing. I will definitely be buying the game to support it and have my own play-through once this is over.

They are being harsh on Warren because he's being the typical nerdy 'nice guy' who's crushing on Max when it's clear that Max is not interested in him that way. Like Austin said in this quick look, they probably just see too much of their young self in him. I know I do and let me tell ya, young flamingeyebrows was an idiot. :P

As for him standing up to Nathan, that was cool and Max said thanks and warned him to not get involved for his own good. As for leaving him there, that was kinda harsh but she saw David Madsen running towards Nathan and Warren so she knew he wasn't gonna get beaten badly, at least.

Yep, completely borked. Progressive and HTML5 don't work at all. Streaming works on auto, not anything else and only for a few seconds. Tried downloading the file, and wouldn't play.

Doesn't work for me.....

@flamingeyebrows: I've completed the game last night and it's quite incredible, I really hope GBE keep playing until completion, plus they seem to really enjoy it themselves which is always good.

Definitely voting for more Life is Strange. We can always use more games that focus on the human element, and this title does a pretty stellar job so far of making me want to know more about all these characters. Also really appreciate the chill soundtrack!
