Hey guys? I don't think using a helicopter is very competitive at all.

I honestly can't understand the appeal of playing this on a console.

It looks like great coop fun and stuff, but the multiplayer looks like it will be more spread out and less exciting... and probably everyone would just use snipers or something stupid like that.  I'm getting this game for PC for the coop.

Looks pretty good. I still haven't bought Arma 2 so I may just buy this instead if it's better.

@Meliv:  CoD4 trying to be ArmA2, essentially.

What??? It's more like Battlefield Bad Company. So, what, if you see a FPS modern warfare shooter, it's "OH, COD4 copycats." And, have you played ARMA2??? This doesn't look anything like ARMA2, you jackass. This doesn't look anything like COD4, yeah, because COD4 has vehicles, destructable environs, flight, squad based combat, Shit dude, I think you're right. Must be a COD knockoff. FUCKING RETARD!

This game is going to be the shiznit.

Console: 4 V 4 MP a complete joke.

Neutralises the games only selling point, the large maps.

I'll wait and see what the PC is like but from what I've seen so far it will be an arcade game in the vein of BF:BC trying to be like OFP and ending up pleasing no one.

Also, the character animations are remarkably bad.

@Meliv: How did you get CoD4 out of this?

Anyway, you should read up on it. It's nothing like Call of Duty.

Read this preview. It sounds like a better sequel than ArmA was without completely alienating everyone.

On expert mode there's no HUD and mostly one shot kills, that's something you never get on a BF game.

Essentially Killzone 2 did the same thing. I don't see it as hardcore more as unnecessarily adding a crutch to make-up for the poor AI.

I'll probably still pick it up as there aren't enough "tactical shooters" out there lately. But I'll only get it for PC barring any major game engine problems as the console MP restrictions are just absurd.

About animations, the Character Animations look great! Unless you're talking about the gun wobbling constantly left and right, than yes that does look bad.  Reminds me of MOH: Rising Sun..

From wikipedia: "  4vs4 + 3 AI per person on consoles.    "  :(

My interest has waned somewhat. Although, I still want a one-shot -kill version of BF Bad Company...My skill level is 2 in BF:BC (for PS3) and I put a lot of time into that game, but I still think it could be much more *fun* with more realism.

The gun jumping wildly up and down as you move at a normal jog is one but also the grenade throwing looks really bad. Similar to the M.A.G. preview. I hope it's just an early build. The demo will tell all.

The original game was an uncut raw gem, it was really an effort to put up with at times.

Now it seems they have streamlined it enough to make it work with a gamepad on consoles, this is fantastic!

What most people fail to understand is that this is NOT A SHOOTER, IT'S A WAR-SIM.

OFP never was about competitive play, if you want that, stick with your CODs, and happy frag fest there.

But if you like me are a military fetishist, then you will enjoy the depth this game offers.

Looking forward to waste a year of my life playing co-op and making custom missions...

The only sad thing, no user made add-ons on consoles.

OFP2 isn't the real sequel to OFP1, you do know that right guys? The real sequels are the Arma series made by the same folks as the original flashpoint. Due to some legal stuff Codemasters have the rights over the name, so they're marketing it as a sequel to a classic they never made, and this game isn't even similar to the original. If you want a real infantry sim and sequel to Operation Flashpoint, get Arma 2. If you want a battlefield game that isn't by EA, get OFP2.

I'll be picking up MW2, so that's all the modern military FPS that I'll need for a good long while.  I think it looks cool, but it's not for me.  By the time the next R6 or GRAW comes out, I'll be ready for another.

You also have to admit that Arma 2 kind of stayed stuck back in time, with its clunky menus and cranky handling. OFP was a ground breaking new approach to war games then, but nowadays if you go back and replay it, you'll percieve it as the military version of Deer Hunter, i get the same feeling from Arma 2 today. Times change; i dont really care if BIS or Codemasters makes OFP2, aslong it stays true to the original's spirit; and thats realistically simulated warfare on land, air and water -- not just disconnected skirmishes between a few units like in EA's Battlefield, but situations where entire platoons are involved and logistics & strategy are needed equally if not more than mere tactics -- and this on a scale that renders it justice. I dont have anything against running and panting for 10 minutes only to be be killed by a stray bullet because i didnt scan the horizon and take cover, what i dont want to see in a 2009 game is having to open up a scroll down menu to open the door and board a freaking HUMVEE, or do the same and go through 3 voices before i can place and time a satchel charge, not to talk about having to open the MAP to drop a weapon, and in this cathegory, Arma 2 defenately is stuck back in time. But, ofcourse, to each his own!

They promised a demo before release and now they've gone back on it. They're only going to release a PC demo *post* release.

Yep, this game is not looking good at all.

I know everybody here is saying it but it does look like a better version of Arma II.
