I love how Brad just looks at the camera at one point and is just like "Woah.."

I sincerely hope that John Carmack lives to be at least 110 years old. I'm just estimating on the fly here... what I'm getting at:

I do not want to live in a world where John Carmack does not exist.

Around 14:30 for those wondering. I thought it was more like: "I have no idea what he is talking about."

The funny thing about this video is that I'm pretty sure this is Carmack in easy-to-understand non-technical mode. A lot of the stuff is actually pretty easy to understand as a layman if you pay attention...

John Carmack is a breathing supercomputer. I hope the Tested guys get a half-hour interview with him so he can go even deeper into programming and display science.

So I'm guessing milliseconds of latency is a bad thing?

It makes a huge difference, and the effects are only magnified when you are using a head-mounted display and/or head tracking. Even switching from a controller to using a mouse makes latency far more obvious to me, due to the way you're physically moving the mouse around rather than just your thumb.

I was very disappointed with the HMZ-T1 in this regard—my Sony HX900 LCD has around 30 ms latency (really good for a TV, but not great compared to monitors) when an OLED display should be significantly less than that, not more. The optics are very poor quality on it, and it was extremely uncomfortable as well.

Anyway, this is the best demonstration of latency that I've seen, as it clearly illustrates the effects of display or input latency:
