Hello, if you read this please buy this game when this comes out, so that in the future we may get more Yakuza in the west. Thank you.

I get the feeling that this will be the last stand for the Yakuza series in the west.

I hope Nishiki is a playable character. Playing as Majima has me very excited. One of my favorite characters in the franchise.

This probably happens every time a Yakuza game comes to the west, but which of the games should I play? Do you lose anything starting with the PS3 Yakuzas? I remember playing Yakuza 1 way back in the day, but I do not think that game has probably aged well.

Depends on how patient you are. Yakuza 1 and 2 are still great games, especially 2, which is my favourite in the series, but they're ps2 games. Also yakuza 2 ntsc version is pretty rare, and has gotten even rarer since i bought it. I don't recommend starting with 3. If you're going to skip right to the ps3 games just go straight to 5 and watch some sort of a recap video of the convoluted story. should note that yakuza 5 is only available via psn download.

@cerberus3dog: im like 99% sure it's only kazuma and majima

but playable majima is a DREAM. his bomb defusal in 2 is still the best moment of the series

@hott8bitaction: Yak 3 has it's own story and starts in a new location with some new characters.
you'll play as the old hero and you will miss a few references maybe but all in all nr 3 is a good starting point I think.

Yakuza 0 is the first chronologically (it's set in the 80s!), so if you wait for 0 you could start from the "beginning" on PS4.

This game is the Shenmue 3 we deserve. It's also the River City Ransom 2 we deserve. And what that trailer doesn't mention is that this game takes place in 1985. And has a ton of 1980's AM2 classics available in the local arcade.

Also, @hott8bitaction: Yakuza 4 is dirt cheap, and features a lengthy series recap of the previous games so you can get all caught up. It also suffers from possibly the worst quick look on this entire website. Seriously, I didn't play that game for a long while because of that horrible misinformation. What a fool I was!

@2-d:Yakuza 6 is getting at least a pity translation. That game looks like it has way too much money behind it to not at least try. Takeshi Kitano is in it! And he hates videogames!

I'm still really sad Yakuza 5 did not get an English physical release.
