E3 2016: The Champions of Quake Have Returned

Heavy HEAVY quake 3 vibe here... And I like it.

It's crazy to me that this is PC only.

Can I be an eyeball with legs and a gun on top? That's the real question.

I mean, if it plays like Doom, but has lite Overwatch style hero based stuff, is that really so bad? Like, as long as the weapons are still all in the arena, and they have a rocking theme? (Which, the trailer seems to have)

Does the dude with that helmet has a name or simply refereed to as the "Quake guy"?

I was to young to ever see Quake in it's heyday but this sounds promising and after DOOM i'm optimistic at least.

i withold judgement until i see more, but i do have a lot of faith in this considering DOOM's awesomeness. then again i was never a quake person so i don't see how this looks that bad in theory.

They've got one of the most impressively dubious track records I've ever seen, it's really something else!

This is fine, but I'm still wishing really hard for a reboot of the original Quake campaign.

This time with all the different, conflicting directions it was pulled in combined: gnarly Cthulhu shit, RPG progression, some uber-warrior named Quake with a big hammer, freaky guns, and a Trent Reznor soundtrack.

I'd hope that means Generations Arena-style but likely it means "hero shooter"...

The visor guy is from Quake 3. Also of course he uses the gauntlet.

FFFUUUUU--.....at least let people turn that shit off in dedicated servers.

I hope it just means a more modern Quake 3 Arena. I'm ok with a new Quake, Doom and UT :)

I'm not too worried about the hero stuff. I think it's just some extra abilities per character on top of the standard arena style gameplay. I don't think it will go as far as Lawbreakers for example where you have zero pickups and fixed weapons per character (I mean Ranger picked up the lightning gun!).

Co-developed with Saber (recently known for Halo Online) is kinda worrying though.

Just better integration with steam, and a newer ui to quake live would've sufficed for me. Not a fan of the art style or the notion of hero abilities in this, but who knows. Maybe it's good.

@ivdamke: Quake on a gamepad is just about the most craziest nonsense idea ever, though.

Yea I get that, but console players would still play and pay for it I'm sure which is why I find that decision odd.

Not DOOM, Quake. OverQuake is not a bad combination, I just want QuakeCon to be here now so I can see more.

I really hope they go light on the moba. They did modernize Doom perfectly, I hope they can knock it out of the park again with this.

Am I the only one who was all for the old Quake single player?

This game seems like everyone who was on it had no idea what people liked about Quake and just wanted to jump onto the Overwatch / TF2 / Battleborn train. I'm sure it will play well, but this is 0% what I'm looking for in a new Quake game.
