Seeing this in my RSS feed made me think it was a spiritual successor to Monster Rancher.

I think it's reminding you of NBA Jam, because of the uniforms and court. However, the disk mechanic is totally new and wholly original.

As long as all these Windjammers inspired games have a lack of style, janky animation and less precision and speed, they will all be inferior to the original.

I agree but my snap-judgement from what I'm seeing in this trailer is that they actually have all of this down pat EXCEPT for the camera angle. However, they NEED to make an original camera or original control version in order to bring in local competitive play and that is a feature they have as votable on their Trello board.

Got excited thinking this was gonna be NBA JAM. But this is cool too. Looks better than every other 'disc based' product that has tried to emulate Windjammers.

I get what they are trying to do, and this is one of the most polished Windjammer clones, but seriously, they have to include camera change options for that perspective tho.

excellent demonstration of completely misunderstanding half the allure of Windjammers. what a godawful aesthetic.

Support for splitscreen and couch play. Okay, sure.

But it's 2016 and i play games with people around the globe. Sure it's a fast paced game, but i played other fast paced games on internet. Please give us a fun game with online multiplayer. Thank you.

funny how people here always flip flop on wanting more local multiplayer to complaining about games not having online.

Seems like its missing the charm of windjammers, but that would always be a complaint.

@ripelivejam: There are a ton of different people on giantbomb with different opinions, so that shouldn't be surprising or funny.

It's just frustrating when i see a lot of cool games that i just can't buy because there's no way to play them online.

Disc Jam is a really great name and there is no way this wasn't at least partially inspired by Giant Bomb with that name.

I think it's less of people flip flopping and more that there is a set of people that have a group of friends that can do local play and the rest of us don't so you get both opinions.
