what's up with the THIS WORLD COMES FOR YOU nonsense sentence being used twice? Like the appeal of uncovering those words one by one is that you're sort of excited to find out what the full sentence is like. But they already revealed that at the start of the trailer. Strange.

I know I'm probably going to regret it but I really want to get this day one lol. I'm loving the setting and am kinda excited :/ I'm still going to wait for reviews before making the purchase but yeah...

p.s. I'm a sucker for a) open world games and b) zombie games.

@zentheninja: Yeah, I looked it up at the beginning of the trailer, as well, and was surprised. A Bend-based studio of all places being one of the headliners for Sony. Huh.

Can we make a collapse of society game without zombies in it? There would have to be some other justification for it, I guess, but I would be 10x more interested in this without zombies.

It's kinda bananas that so many people can watch all the footage and trailers of Day's Gone and still feel so underwhelmed. It looks great, the action looks fun, the characters and setting are interesting... Is it just the marketing that's getting people down? Do we collectively have Zombie Fatigue? Because I kinda feel the same way, I feel like I'm watching footage of what is potentially a really incredible game but I just don't have it in me to feel any sense of excitement.

Make my zombies flow like water please.

@sweep: Idk, it looks like the safe and expected culmination of open world and zombie games. It all adds up to "yeah that makes sense" and not much enthusiasm. Honestly, zombie fans are so spoiled at this point if I were to make a Se7en remake I would make the gluttony murder based around someone just eating up this shit for a decade plus.

It really sucks that whenever I see this game, I feel like they aren't leaning enough into the whole biker gang thing and instead of zombies...

I think it looks super corny. And not really good. In fact, as I was watching, I kept asking myself, "Why is Sony even backing this at all - it looks like the exact kind of game that ...well, doesn't make it this far into development."

But in all seriousness this looks fine it just lacks an identity. The setting and characters aren't as interesting as The Last of Us. The systems probably aren't as interesting as State of Decay. The world doesn't seem as fun to get around as Daylight or Sunset Overdrive. It is way more self serious than Dead Rising. The biker motif has been done better in Full Throttle and The Lost and the Damned.

I find it impressive how this game manages to look less and less interesting every time they show more of it off. I mean... yeah, it looks fine and all I suppose... but there's just nothing here that makes the game register with me at all. I practically forget all about it the minute the video stops.

The only problem with this game is The Last of Us 2.

I know one is more open world and one is more linear, but the tone and style between the two games is so similar it's hard to get excited about the one that looks like a copy.

The running actually looks pretty funky in the gameplay videos Game Informer put out.

This definitely looks like a video game.

People are going crazy for this on the internet and YouTube, and I just don't understand why.. The voice acting seems strange, the gameplay looks alright (at best), they're not showing off the cool stuff they promised (I know GI showed some horde gameplay.. but that stuff looked super contrived because it was arcadey rather than organic). It's actually shocking to me that so many people were SO positive on what we've seen so far (many of whom coincidentally also very rabidly of the opinion that "Days Gone is so much better than State of Decay!!1!" so.. maybe that has something to do with it). The graphics look alright and they certainly have time to develop, but it's not that this game lacks polish as much as a soul.

A game for y'all: Drink a shot every time you see a zombie at E3 this year.

Pretty sure that trailer killed any interest I once had in this game.

@laughingorc: Agreed. I thought the crowd control gameplay looked alright, but trying to match TLOU for tension and drama isn't doing this game any favours.

Will be waiting for reviews on this one. Not out until next year so they've plenty of time to keep working on it.

@lethalki11ler: I need to know more before I decide if I want it day one but assuming its a open world single player game with you actually controlling and taking care of a motorcycle I think it will be interesting. Hopefully there will be some road rash style combat where I can swing a bat or tire iron while rolling past enemy bikers or the occasional stray "zombie".

Freakers, rippers, Boozer..ss. Idk I was kinda excited for this one but the small bit of writing/story I’ve seen is just seems bad

I feel like this game is going to be a whole lot of dumb shit for me to do and laugh at; sort of like a Farcry game with zombies.

I can only take so many near future dystopic video games. I'm going to play The Last of Us 2 because I like the characters and just Naughty Dog games in general.

Unless this gets unexpectedly good reviews I think I'm going to completely skip this. I'm not intrigued by the characters, the world or what I have seen of the gameplay so far. You either have to an extremely well told story, with interesting and unique characters, or a very unique gameplay take on a game set in a near future dystopian setting.

I think this game will have to shine in the narrative and dialogue. The gameplay might not being doing anything not seen before; but, if they tell a good story that can make all the difference.

That is not letting them off the hook. Saying that is what will save them it pretty much showing them the 'glinting steel' of the hook and saying, "You better hang on this pointy spike with your narrative." They can have a great game if the story you see and play during the game is worth seeing and hearing. I would never underestimate Sony Bend's ability to make a compelling game.

I watch this and get a real 'this is gonna be open-world zombie survival with crazy post-apoc survivor camps/cults and a bike you can drive around the map on'. So like Madmax, plus zombies, and a bike instead of a car. (and I guess a lot more guns?)

Which doesn't sound horrible. Like, zombie trope is old and done and this game feels like it would have been a lot more exciting if it came out a few years ago. We've had a few games of the type I just described already. Heck, we had State of Decay which is similar enough to be mentioned in the same breath.

Game still might be really good, or might be middling tier. Will hinge on how fun it is to play, how fun the side objectives are to do, and how good the story is. None of which we can gleam (or at least I can't) from trailers.

The motorcycle animation reminds me a lot of Ride to Hell Retribution

This could be amazing, but this trailer & everything I've seen of this up to now just looks extremely boring & dull. Hey, I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see it coming together

The graphics are curiously much less impressive in this trailer than in the video shown at the last E3.

This looks generic as hell. Not good, not even bad. It just looks like a big pile of nothing much.

I don't know what happened at the end of Ride to Hell: Retribution, but it must've been crazy...

I have a hard time believing that a developer that hasn't made a game for a contemporary console since the PS2 has anything interesting to make. Seriously, these guys have been making PSP and Vita games since 2006! This seems like a misplay from Sony - they should have made SIE Bend Studio make something small for the current systems, and then let them get a long leash for a game.
