The art style really reminds me of Liero in a weird way. Or more specifically, the way that fire, destruction and projectiles seem to behave in this. I thought the guy behind that game, Joosa Riekkinen, would be involved in this but apparently not. Maybe the developers just played a ton of that game when they were kids, like me, and it got ingrained in them.

I've been wondering for years when something like this would come along as a "next-gen" feature, instead of upgraded graphics all the time... and it isn't even on a console lol.
