Huh? Guess I would now change my speculation on the genre from "loot shooter" to "loot stealther". And the Bionic Woman plays a Boss, as in the final boss of Snake Eater(more in the character development term than the gameplay term), figure I suppose?

Either way, now this is a Kojima ass game trailer.

Hmmm... I wonder if Porter is a designation rather than a name. Because that dude was certainly carrying a lot of bags.

That gameplay doesn't look conventional and pushed me a way a little but it definitely looks different and judging by how much fucking money Kojima seems to have gotten, I'm definitely giving him the benefit of the doubt.

This seems like a contemporarly important video game in the AAA circle because it looks like it doesn't give a fuck what Sony wants it to be. Or us for that matter, and I kinda like it... or maybe I don't.

I just don't the reaction to this at all, it looks so interesting. Also it's clearly going to be a stealth shooter they showed him pulling out the gun. They just wanted to focus on the characters/setting not gunplay.

Seriously, i read your comment and was like "I bet it won't be that gross" and then it was fucking horrible and gross.

Skip past 2:57 to 3:05 if you hate intense body horror.

And that last shot makes me think Kojima probably has an eating fetish... would explain that messed up burrito recipe/lesbian romance audiolog in MGSV.

The gameplay not looking conventional actually draws me in more. I think I'd be disappointed if they showed Reedus just start shooting dudes. I'm sure there will be shooting dudes since Mads Mikkelsen was in modern military garb commanding a squad of WWII skeleton troopers, but if most of it is just trekking along a strange land and learning about the world a la Dark Souls, then I'd totally be cool with it.

Would I pay 60 dollars for it? Actually yeah I probably would. This looks like pure unfiltered Kojima and I will take all the good and all the bad that comes with it.

It looks like Kojima is trying to do something. I'm at least always curious concerning him. And doesn't look like Johnny grabbing butt in MGS lV, for what butt I did see.

I'm 100% down for this shit. Honestly I'm a sucker for the heavy synth soundtrack more than anything else (although the more they explain about the world the more intrigued I get).

Can't wait to press x to rip my toenails off.

As a first tease of gameplay, this is maybe the coolest direction they could have gone.

Definitely feeling a Journey vibe. But mixed with surreal horror. Moving away from all video games being about killing things all the time is good.

Anyone else getting Shadow Of The Colossus vibes from this?

Something about travel across that landscape reminds me of it.

P.S that landscape looked photo realistic at points and it freaked me out.

Could be both, the woman also called him "Sam Porter Bridges" saying he makes deliveries and then he said he makes deliveries.

Also: The character in some of the "walking around" sequences doesn't always look like Reedus, sometimes it's a different looking, bulkier, dude with a short ponytail?

Edit: I guess it is Reedus but he keeps changing his hair/suit.

It's also interesting how the type and amount of cargo keeps changing, makes me wonder if it will be open worldish with the player making deliveries between outposts, struggling with the environment, cargo, and these ghost monsters. Which in general kinda reminds me a lot about the setting of MGS Survive: Desolate and lonely, I wonder if there's a deeper relationship between these two games inception.

Not sure if this is a solid answer or related, but Porter is also a Japanese company that makes technical traveling gear and some clothing, kinda like Northface. And like Northface, Porter is known to do collaboration projects with other companies, and Kojima has done collaborations with clothing/equipment companies before.

I'm optimistic, since Kojima does great work, but I'm seeing the hero worship for Kojima get a little confusing. Several places I visit and I keep seeing people praise it as the best gameplay of E3. Either way I'm hopeful for what Kojima and his team does.

So you're a delivery man, interesting. As long as the traversal is fun and satisfying and varied and not just slow tedious slogs from place to place I could see this being very cool. He did pull out a rifle though so theirs probably locations where regular gun fights will break out? hmm.

Here's some details about the game and it's gameplay, according to the interview Kojima did yesterday and also according to other older interviews that, for some reason, most people around here don't seem to be aware of:

- You play as Sam Porter Bridges (Norman Reedus), he's not a military guy, he's a working man making deliveries.

- According to Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen, the game has a "social media" component and "needs collaboration from different people from different parts of the world";

- The trailer on 2017's Game Awards took place shortly after the game's opening prologue;

- When you die in this game, you will be transported to some kind of purgatory – the upside down underwater world we saw in one trailer – and you’ll be able to freely explore it in first person. You can wander outside of your body, and find items and other things. “At that point, you’re not dead or alive. It’s the equivalent of that screen that says ‘Continue?’ and a counter ticking down towards zero.” Kojima told IGN.

- After you die and go tho this "purgatory", you can choose to return to your body and get back to the world of the living. However, the actions from before your death are not undone, and they will persist in the game world. If during your gameplay you created a crater in the map and then you die, once you come back to life that crater will stay there.

- In the trailers, there are instances where we can see living things age dramatically in a matter of seconds. The reason this happens is because of a phenomenon called Timefall, some kind of rain that is not of this world.

- “The baby relates to game mechanics as well as the story as a whole.” Kojima also confirmed it is one and the same baby in all trailers.

I like the "Timefall" idea just as a concept. Also the scene in the warehouse with the guy on the radio might as well have been Otacaon warning Snake about nanomachines or something. I'm cautiously optimistic at this point.

This looks like hyper-melodramatic trash with bonus Kojima weirdness and I genuinely love it. Please keep releasing these trailers forever. The next one will probably be tank baby pooping itself while Norman Reedus methodically swims across an ocean, and then it will close with a random cameo from Dakota Fanning or some shit.

Better yet, the "gameplay" here is virtually nonexistent. Best case scenario, it's an atmospheric walking simulator with occasionally interspersed "avoid the ghost zambies" sections. I laughed out loud at the little "shh, don't breathe" segment, because all I could think about was Deadly Premonition, except this has a ridiculously high budget and appears to be comically self-indulgent.

Please, please, please continue giving crazy people seemingly endless funding. Amazing shit happens. I don't care if this is ever a game, or if/when the game that comes out is garbage. These trailers are can't-miss nonsense, and it's incredible that Death Stranding exists. Watching this thing try to form a semblance of a narrative or a video game continues to be a true joy.

I've been thinking about this game a bit more and I think I've honestly arrived at a somewhat cohesive understanding as to what this game might be. It's not an action game. It's not a third person shooter. It's an adventure game. I think it's an indie movie equivalent to a video game. Like if this game was a movie, the main actor would be an Adam Driver, directed and shot like an Alex garland and written like the movie Patterson. I now that anolgy is stupid but honestly, I think this game makes a lot more sense now after seeing it like that...

I am fascinated by the fact people are more horrified by the toenail in this video than the blood-gurgling throat-cuts of multiple games during this E3.

Well you can clearly see he has some kind of weapon when he's on the cliff above the encampment, and the Mads Milkkelson character seems to have alot of military cronies so I would think there's some action elements to this game. This trailer was far more interesting than the previous, I can't wait to see more.

Is this running on the Fox Engine? The visuals, especially the environments, have the same look as MGSV environments.

@discoman: The engine is called Decima, also powered Horizon Zero Dawn. Guess most of the art team made it out of Konami Digital Entertainment, hence the similar look.

I'm pretty sure Kojima said this would be an action game in one of the first interviews for it. I'm fine if it turns out to be a weird walking simulator / survival game though. This game still seems more interesting to me than most the games that were shown at e3.

Conceptually this is quite interesting, was he delivering a body at one point? i wonder what's the story behind that..

Definitely looking forward to seeing more!
