@mannyonthem00n: If that's what the game ends up looking like it'll be a bit disappointing but I'm betting it'll end up looking pretty damn good by the time it's released.

I like the stormtrooper chatter between themselves, but their approach to audio logs looked a bit clunky. As someone alluded to before, it looks like a better-realized approach to Force Unleashed, which could be fun.

The previous decade of Star Wars games has been...not great. Almost seems like they're shooting for a "safe" success, kind of like a Force Awakens for video games, relying heavily on previously-tread ground done competently. You'll have fun, but the generic concept of "fun" is all you'll recall a year or two later.

I hope this game is good, but this video makes it look a little dull.

This definitely seems to be running the same line as all the other jedi centric games as far as mechanics and oddly frequent melee enemies.

Games play best on WHAT?! That's a lie!

Anyway, I hope it's good, but this looks generic and mediocre to me.

This looks enjoyable! First western AAA-game in a long while that i'm into. While it's true that this doesn't seem to break any new ground, it looks like a neat 10 -20 hour singleplayer game with scriped ass cutscenes and the whole shebang. The kind of games that i like.

I was hoping for dismemberment. Seems like the closest was when the trooper nearly got cut in half at 4:11. Maybe it's just limited to non-humans? Hopefully it'll be an option. Maybe an ESRB thing to maximize sales for EA?

Overall I'm curious what Respawn does with the final version.

At first glance, this has the potential of being a Jedi Outcast + Uncharted + Sekiro hybrid, and that's pretty exciting. With EA showing us "alpha footage" we might have to wait and see the next gameplay reveal to get a proper feel for the game. Here's hoping they do the Star Wars license justice this time around! This definitely has potential and it'd be interesting to see where they take it. The only disappointing bit is that it's still tied to the current cinematic universe, and isn't something entirely unique.

Does anyone actually like wall-climbing sections in games like this? I feel like some manager who never played a game before was probably like “wow! I love this! He’s climbing grates!”

My real take:
- Its Pre-Alpha the animation is rough, but look and feel are probaly pretty much set.
- The protagonists has a pronounced underbite with that jutting chin...it distrating
- I HATE teenage protagonists who were are expeted to believe are capable. Giveing me a 38 year old Nathan Drake any day, or give me a 28 year old Lara Croft from the old games. Nobody sends a young perosn on a Black Ops mission in charge of himself. So why the kid...? Hmmm.
- The graphics look fine for Pre-Alpha but it is too colorful, too over saturared like a "charcteer action platformer". No what I really wanted from a narrative SW game...hmmm.
- When you use your lightsaber like a flashlight you totally destroy the "mythic" natural of the item. When you treat you main weapon like kitchen tool you diminish it significance. A stupid, stupid move this early in the conspetion of the game.
- Too much daiague about what the palyer is seen on the screen, no really watch teh video gaisn and see how many times a charcter or an NPC explains what is happening, eplains the obvious, expliani who or what is attacking with unnecessary exposition. This is going to be a Rated-T for Teen game, isn't it? They expect to have 12 years old playing this.
- Any part that woudl have ben too difficult for a kid, are all solved by all those force powers. No need to aim, no need to jump precisely with the time slowing, and I bet you cannot fail any of the parkcoure running, jumping swinging...it is 100% a kids game folks.

@slicknickles: May I ask for your updated take? My interest in the game waned and so I'm probably gonna wait for a steam sale. Which is to say Respawn/EA seem to have delivered a pretty good game lol

@mannyonthem00n: If they come out with a patch/update that smooths out the rough edges of this game it's an easy 4 star game for most people and an easy 5 star for me. The story and pacing are legitimately great, the mechanics are fun once they really start to click for you, and the worlds are smartly designed imo. Its biggest drawbacks are a lack of rewarding collecitbles (most of them are customization options that are middling at best) and a lack of fast travel which is probably the only reason I'm not going to 100% the game.

If they come out with a patch soon, go get it. Otherwise wait for a sale. It may be worth noting that I got the game for free with Origin Premium (I buy the sports games every year anyway so it's a bargain for me)

Oh, and avoid spoilers for the last 5ish hours of the game if you can. There's some real good shit in there.
