No, the chainsaw was in the original game. On Act 3 in the jungle you find "Jason" a VERY hard to kill guy. You can find the chainsaw in his cabin there.

Is this dude the last boss of the main game? If so, it makes the possible emotional attachment much weaker, since we know how this all ends (and what he does).

I am sure that name doesn't mean anything.
