Giant Bomb Travelogue: Iceland

Well, that was several levels of awesome. Amazing work, Drew & Patrick.

Also, the Dwarf Fortress brothers? Completely shocked me. I always thought of them as mythical figures, not guys who go to Eve fan fests.

This is awesome! Giant Bomb needs to start a travel series right now.

Hot dogs made out of lamb sound really good. Sheepshead and fermented shark not so much, but I would give them a try. Also big kudos to Drew this a was really well shot and edited video.

Most of the shots were done with a Panasonic GF3 with a 20mm pancake lens. It's a little shakier than a heavier DLSR, but in travel situations like this, the small size of the GF3 and lens is CRITICAL. It was so nice to be able to put it in my jacket pocket and whip it out whenever I wanted.

A couple shots were done with a Kodak Zi8 (specifically, the waffle part and the shot of Patrick's driver's license), and all the interviews in the Harpa were shot with one of our big cameras, a Panasonic AF100.

Edit: Oh, and there are some GoPro shots in there too: The Blue Lagoon and the truck driving up the hill.

Best produced video content on Giant Bomb. And the content itself was fantastic as well! Now I want to go see Iceland, the people seem to be as friendly as Swedes. That guy, getting out of his car and showing them how to eat the sheep head...amazing.

What I wonder is, while the Eve superfans are busy in Iceland at the fan fest, how much of their virtual stuff is getting blown up? Presumably most of them play during the off time while they're there, and their corp buddies who stayed home cover them, but I bet there's still some effect on the metagame.

I love how that dude just pulls over and gets out of his car to show you proper sheep's head consumption etiquette.
