Here's David Jaffe's New Game, Drawn to Death

This sure as shit looks like a David Jaffe game, in the worst possible way.

Another multiplayer arena shooter :/. I wonder how fast this games player base will leave it. That is to say if it can garner a substantial player base.

The style of this is kind of neat, leaves me wishing they'd done something more interesting with it than an arena shooter. I like Jaffe. People are getting way too thin-skinned.

I kind of like the art style, just kind of want more colour? I know a whole bunch of people I went to school with that would have lost their minds if this game came out then.

Surprised he's doing another online multiplayer game after how quickly people stopped playing Twisted Metal.

I do think this art style is rad, too bad the game looks almost as embarrassing as David Jaffe looked when presenting it.

All jokes aside, I like the idea and premise. I think this has a lot of potential to be quite a good arena shooter. The art direction leaves a bit to be desired as it stands, but this is early-alpha. Knowing David Scott Jaffe is behind it, I'm sure it will be wacky and visceral in all the right ways as per usual. I can also see the easily offended getting way too up in arms about this game.

People would be super into this if it was still 1999.

Really dig the idea of a game that takes place in a notebook.

Cool concept with the notebook, entering the stage looked really neat, but I'm probably not the guy this is made for.

edit: Also, I think the art style idea is novel, but I could see that being generally hard to look at ya know? Not easy on the eyes.

I like the idea behind this. The execution leaves something to be desired. Having said that though it does state it's "pre-alpha" so I assume this game will go through massive changes before it'll be presented to us as a fully completed package. We'll see, we'll see.

Why do people hate David Jaffe again? I think this game has much style and could be fun.

It's hilariously that the GiantBomb crew can say shit/fuck etc. all they want but when Jaffe does it, it's as if he kicked a newborn dolphin in the nuts. Just flag the drive-by posts and move on.

I like the fact that technology has reached the point that art styles like this actually can be implemented in a game, but yeah, I don't think I could look at this for more than a few minutes at a time either.

Clearly graph paper would have been the way to go.

I do wonder if Mr. Jaffe's aesthetics come from the turn of the millenium. This seems like a great idea on paper. It just looks... bad.

Love Jaffe, his opening was very sincere and he isn't afraid to speak his mind. For anybody to be offended by that in any way is mind blowing.

I don't know about this one. I think Jaffe is great at doing what he does, but sometimes his thing isn't really for me. I've never been much a fan of the God of War series, though I do want to give it another shot. At the same time I think the Twisted Metal games are, mostly, pretty damn great. In fact, I might be in the minority of people when I say that the latest Twisted Metal was a fantastic fucking game.

@coolarman: I remember him being grilled on a sexist comment he made about Twisted Metal coming out on Valentine's day and that men should let their girlfriends win (and something else women should do to their boyfriends). He made it in jest but people took severe offense to it and now it's an internet crusade against him and anything he puts out.

We've fallen on harsh times if we can't see (and judge) one's persona apart from his creative piece (of art). It saddens me because some of the world's best creations in any form of media are created by assholes. I might not personally love Phil Fish or anything and probably disagree with anything he says but Fez was brilliant. People should stop judging game developers, judge their work.

Looks very interesting. Like the diverse char abilities. Art is really interesting, and a bit of a turn off at the same time. Multiplayer just isnt my thing though.

Makes me wish the Anarchy Reigns would get a sequel, I think I'm the only one of a few that loved that game....

I love the art style! But the gun sound could be a little bit more punchier, I guess?

I dig the artstyle and premise, but besides that this seems to be a pretty normal shooter.

I like the idea of the art style. Still think it could be improved on a little more. The game play looks really lacking though. Would have been nice if they tried something else with this aesthetic. The arena shooter mechanics they showed looked very poor.

It could be fun. Unique multiplayer games like this always scare me because if the community doesn't form, the game is dead in the water. There is so much competition out there for multiplayer games that it seems incredibly risky to make something so out there.

Also I really hope Jaffe got some new blood to work on the server/net code of this game. Twisted Metal's online multiplayer was a fucking mess.

Folks, I understand the outrage over Jaffe using the word "fucktard" but at least, upon seeing that outrage, he apologized. Take that for what you will.

Regardless I can appreciated a game done in the style of my high school note book drawings and some of the mechanics look interesting, but I'm not interested in a multiplayer game. Also I wish the sky was inverted (black with white text) to give the game more contrast.

Am I missing something, or is the name "Drawn to Death" in no way an actually clever pun or allusion?

I don't like the art style one bit... not a fan of cell shading and this looks like the worst type.

On the scale this is a 0, Borderlands is a 7 and Okami is a 10!

Seems like a better version of Gothan City Imposters? Basically seems like a $15 game as well.

Looks good, the video states that this is a pre-alpha build so i attribute some of the weird physics and glitchy movement to that, seems more fun that Blizzards TF2 knock off.

@qblivion: Jaffe was the most human sounding person in the whole damn keynote. It was refreshing.

For everyone shitting on this, can u not read the first frame "pre alpha"?! It's not suppose to lok good, just reveal what the creator of a large franchise wants to do next. I personally look forward to seeing the finished product.
