My 3DS XL (not new) has the same wobble out of the box, so it's not a new issue. I thought it was just like that. Is it not like that for others?

That wobbly thing happens with my 3DS XL as well. It's annoying as shit but at least it hasn't broken.

It's definitely "just like that". It has been all the way back to my DS Lite. Though those hinges used to just break on a fairly regular basis, so this is "better" than it used to be.

This thing kind of reminds me of the Game Boy Micro. Very sleek looking, but I have no idea why they made it. I thought the whole point of the original 2DS was the lack of hinge so the littlest of children could play it and not worry about it getting busted.

Well I'm sold... Floppy screens are the new tomorrow!!!

So what IS the best option if I wanted to get into 2/3DS stuff at this point?

Gave my 3DS XL a shake and it does have a similar wobble. Pulling the stereo cameras and swapping the screen probably does reduce the weight a bit. Kind of sad they didn't stick to their ridiculous bread motif but the clamshell design is what you want.

I don't know if I should upgrade from my old 2DS or just save that for a Switch.

I noticed in this video it's weird seeing Jeff look up at a person in a video.

They didn't test the 3D.

Unless you find the 2DS uncomfortable or you need bigger screens or you want to play Xenoblade Chronicles on the go, it seems like you should stick with your old 2DS and save the cash for a Switch.

My four year old regular 3DS has the same screen wobble and I'm pretty sure it's always had it. I finally just softmodded it so I could play all those GBA games that Nintendo only lets you buy on the New 3DS.

It seems crazy that thing costs 50% more than the BF N3DS.

New Ben's Lens XL seems pretty great though.

But to my recollection the *new* 3DS didn't come with power cords. At least mine didn't, and I remember that being a small controversy at the time.

The top screen on my new 3ds xl is cracked, and I never use the 3D, so I'm super into the idea of the N2DSXL. I'll probably save up for a switch first, but I'll definitely get one of these things at some point!

I've had a DSi and a New 3DSXL and they both had the wobble. I assumed all did. Is that somehow not the case?

I look forward, in 15 years, to the The Ben Heck Show fixing a 2DS XL into what it should have been.

I would have preferred a really svelte, slim 2ds (not XL) with an aluminum body and 10+ hr battery life/2 week standby. Just go all out with the thing considering the age of the hardware. A real god damn premium handheld. I also want a unicorn.

Tilting the top screen back until it was parallel with the bottom screen was something I've been wary about doing ever since I got my first DS when I was like 12. That cracking noise sounds scary! It's just not right!

I feel like the wobble on the top screen is present in all the DS/3DS units I've used, but not to the extent that was in the video. Did clamshell phones (or even the GBA SP) have this problem or is this exclusive to the DS family of Nintendo hardware?

The wobble definitely did not exist on my Ds OG and Ds Lite. Really hate it on my n3ds xl.

Doesn't stripping the 3d out of a 3DS just make this a DS again? Albeit a more powerful one?
