Hearing they've cut the openness of the levels and now this? It's probably the first Hitman I'll pass on.

Hitman was always the exception of a great PC game that was just as great on the consoles, no compromise to fit the new platform/audience.

Absolution will probably be a really great stealth shooter. I'd rather have another great Hitman.

I love all the comments of people bashing this trailer. Relax.

Thank you. For everyone saying they'll no longer buy the game because of this trailer; grow a spine.

It's funny because the same kinds of people that would normally shit all over a pre-rendered trailer arguing that it gives no impression of how a game will turn out are the same folks eating this one up and crying foul that it's a sign of the end for Hitman.

And you know whats the worst part of this, some asshole at Fox news or CNN will see this shit and think oh of course games are evil and promote violence against women and sexual assaults etc. All because some jackass thinks THIS is what we think is cool. And yes some missions on past Hitman games were dumb and a little over the top but in what moment did we all say you know what this series need, Nuns who are hyper sexualized and use rocket launches, FUCK THIS TRAILER.

@ChrisTilton: Have you played the hitman games? It's completely in line for them. At the end of blood money you go to a night club with tons of scantily clad strippers, I think it was called Heaven and Hell.

It made sense in that context. We're dealing with the kind of subject matter that surrounds the grittiest side of life like sex rings and other filthy stuff. He's a professional MURDERER.

I see where you're coming from. I just don't think this is the kind of lowest common denominator thing that people seem to be making this out to be. Not even close.

I have played them, and I understand your point that this trailer doesn't fall far from the tree. But Blood Money is 6 years old, and the times and storytelling sensibilities have changed. Hitman used to feel like a grownup among video games, now it just feels like it's stuck in the past.

Thank you. Seriously. I don't have a problem with Tarantino, per say. He makes entertaining homage films. But CHRIST I'm so tired of the manic section of his fanbase thinking every 70's genre or trapping (of which there are many) he regurgitates onto screen is original cinema gold.

That's an issue with the fan base then. Tarantino himself is extremely clear with where he gets his inspiration from and how he pays homage to his childhood favourites.

Hitman 2, Contracts, and Blood Money all had endings that could be almost action packed. The Nuns could very well fit that moniker of the final mission where it is 47 against heavy, skilled resistance.

OR this could be some shitty plot device that tries to connect 47 and religion together again and falls on the sharpest object

Didn't blood money have a mission where you infiltrated a redneck wedding? And didn't contracts have a mission where you infiltrated a party held by a meat baron who is fat like jabba the hutt?

edit: mainly i was commenting on people saying "NUNS! IO IS RUINING HITMAN".

Yeah, everything about Blood Money was pretty ridiculous.

If you played through the Hitman games then this trailer is hardly out of character for the series. All those nuns had Agency emblems so obviously they have to be all weird and insane because thats just the sort of people that organization contracts out. The Hitman series was always wacky as hell and hardly serious. You want a good "sneaky" trailer then go look up the earlier one where he is creeping through a house taking out guards one by one.

This is an awesome trailer, I'm a fan of the game since the first one came out and it just got me excited for the crazy antics they have in store. I certainly loved all those oddball missions like the dominatrix party in a meat packing district, the carnival, the asylum etc. At the end of Hitman 1 you're mowing down dozens of your own clones with a minigun - I'd say Nuns in S&M gear is the least they could do!

Yeah I think the people complaining about the trailer are just whining, almost every CG trailer since the dawn of time (of videogames) has not accurately reflected gameplay, the fact is you CAN and always HAVE been able to do this shit in all Hitman games, it is not the intended way to play and I do not recall people complaining this hard when Splinter Cell: Conviction released its trailer.

TLDR; Just enjoy the cool CG

Fetish. Nuns.

Something about this reminds me of Elexis Sinclair and the shitty marketing for SIN. I guess the old saying, "any press is good press" is still ... kind of... accurate? Really makes you wonder about IO Interactive...

Despite this, I'm still [very] interested in Hitman.

hahaha, I really hope I can just blame a dumb marketing team for this. I mean why the fuck would trained assassin killers wear fucking stillettos, look like models, and do synchronized walking poses? "hurp derp gamers liek it when women in games are a parody of themselves." Jeff nailed it, lets all hope this is not representative of the game.

While a trailer doesn't always exactly accurately depict a game/gameplay, it can show the direction and audience that the developers were hoping for. What many fans are worried about is that Hitman will become more action and gun focused... which is pretty much the opposite reason why Hitman: Blood Money was loved so much.

@cavemantom: I'll admit the nun costumes were a bit needless. Also, that RPG wasn't really necessary. That said, I still think it fits within the story context I'm making up in my head right now. Time to dissect the trailer!

From what I gathered here, 47's left the International Contract Agency (hence the blood-dripping band-aid over his barcode) and is out on the lam. As a result, the agency is sending out it's biggest guns in the form of various assassin squads to go kill 47 for defecting. I find the Nuns pretty cool mainly because it implies that there's a flavorful variety of assassin teams out working on contracts for the agency, all with their different kinds of flair. Think "The Warriors," but instead of face-painted baseball bat-toting goons, you have a group of beguiling nuns who come packing. I find the prospect of warring assassin teams incredibly cool as opposed to the simple recycled 47-esque clones of past games (bespectacled albino dudes with slicked back hair).

There's nothing wrong with scantily clad ladies rocking big-ass guns, nor do I think this is pandering to the lowest common denominator. Sure, aspects of this trailer are ridiculous, but put into the context of crazy assassin groups, this idea has tons of potential. People need to stop mistaking a sexily dressed woman with over-sexualized objectified female. If the final scene before 47's getaway is any indication, he shows some respect (or, at least more respect than 100% of his past victims) for the final woman by shutting her dead eyes.

Sorry for nerding out, I just love me some Hitman.

Guys, it's not that big of a deal. Most game developers know that they need to have gun battles to grab the attention of the youth of today, and it can't just be patient stealth like we've come to expect from Hitman games. There will probably be a way where you can be stealthy about taking out the ladies...... hopefully. If there is not a run I can do that is entirely stealth I will not be a happy camper, though.

@Space_Sandwich: As someone who has never played a hitman game, this trailer lacks context and seems ridiculous. I could understand the nun disguise, but why the sexy outfits? It's just dumb without any context and it makes us all look bad as people that play games to people on the outside looking in. Above all else it's embarrassing.

A more realistic Hitman trailer would have involved him repeatedly being detected and reloading quick saves over the course of several hours.

@nientkewitz@zudthespud: Sure, it lacks context to those who are new to the series, but let's not jump to drastic conclusions about our credibility as gamers. There's no reason to feel that this is an embarrassment to the gaming community. If this trailer is an embarrassment, then Postal 2, the GTA series, Manhunt, Saints Row, and so on have some 'splanin to do. Besides, it's not like this will come on during the NBA Finals and make Mom, Dad, and Grandma shake their heads in disappointment at the dinner table. Then again, I may be speaking too soon on that NBA Finals commercial point...

With the way women are objectified in all media to a much higher degree than short leather skirts and skintight outfits I doubt anyone would bat an eyebrow at this. I'm sure stories of World of Warcraft about gamers pissing into plastic bottles and taking a shit at their desk because they're unable to rip themselves away from a raid, which have nothing to do with sex or the depiction of women in videogames, make gamers look a thousand times worse than a video of a guy killing a bunch of assassins clad in sexy leather outfits.

In addition, relatively compared to other females in games those weren't even outrageously slutty outfits. You see a little leg with a short skirt and thats about it - no tits flying at your face or lude gestures. No one licked the barrel of a gun or straddled their rifle with mock humping gestures.

Also, it's a teaser trailer. What do yous expected? 2 minutes of walking around in a carpenter's outfit?

The real question is: Is Jesper Kyd making the soundtrack for this one as well? I need my Ave Maria and techno-holy music.

I think Bo Diddley's song, I'm A Man, would have been a better soundtrack choice, especially after 47 begins taking the assassin nuns down
