Mercenary King's Bad Ass Pixels Hitting Steam Early Access

There has to be some kind of run or fast roll, right? The characters can't always be walking and moving that slowly.

Like the look and music though.

Not a huge Metal Slug fan, but I do like gun crafting.

The sprite animations look great. This is totally a PS4 purchase for me. It was one of the E3 demo games I was most excited about. I'm really surprised no one has ever created a Metal Slug shump with gun crafting. Can't wait...

Woah, I have never seen pixel art like that. It seemed... so smooth? Almost unnatural. Like the way the guy's mouth moved in particular, it felt pretty unreal. Cool, but unnerving.

Couldn't care much about the game, mind you.

That's Paul Robertson for you. He puts a ridiculous amount of effort into his sprite work and is probably one of the best pixel artists out there (though I'm sure he's collaborating with others, of course).

Yeah, this bothered me as well. Paul Robertson seems to really love doing that. It put me off playing the Scott Pilgrim game. Also, in this game, all the guys seem to be wearing proper clothes and the girls are in tank tops and panties.

Might be fun even if it just looks like a consolized, modernized Metal Slug (i.e. an inferior Metal Slug).

I'll check his work out, it was impressive.

Is this the same guy who did Scott Pilgrim? I'm not a fan of the art style at all, everything looks way too bulky.

So wait, this Kickstarter game does the exact same thing as the DoubleFine game is doing but for some reason it's awesome for these guys but Doublefine gets called scam artists? How does that work?

Combat looks disappointingly simplistic. Was this game ever in beta? I wish I tried the game out first before putting down money for it.

Watching this game for some reason puts me off it, i like the music, i like Metal Slug... i don't know, will probably get it just to prove myself wrong, i'm sure i'd like it more once i'm playing instead of watching.

Maybe it's because i didn't like the Scott Pilgrim game.

I hope this is a rogue like that's a new genre I am really interested in buying into

Hopefully this is out on PS4 on day one. I foresee a lot of hours being played with my friends.

Agree, I definitely noticed it and I don't like it. I did back the Kickstarter though and it does look fun, so I will play it because I love Metal Slug so we'll see how it goes. Broforce does look awesome, though and at least is centered around "bros" in a funny way.

Hmmm, I'm not convinced there is anything interesting gameplay wise that hasn't been done 20 years ago. I guess gun crafting is kinda new for this genre, but other than that it looks like they just reinvented the wheel.

It looks like Metal Slug, in terms of some of the gameplay and the fact that it utilizes pixel art and high quality animation. Also, there's a literal metal slug as an eneny, so 10 points for that.

All this needs now is someone saying "Heavy Machine gun" or "Rocket Lawnchair."
