lol, get a PS3 at some point, brother.

The only game franchise were I have played all the games atleast 2 times. (except the PSP ones) I might just have to pick this up and play threw them all once more (for the trophies of course).

why does it have the sound track from The Rock?

Sony don't own the rights to the original Metal Gear Solid in any capacity. It was on their console. That's it.

@paulunga: Its the "Legacy" Edition. Meaning games that Kojima was directly involved in. PO and the Ac!d games aren't apart of his legacy. So the real question is where the hell is my Ghost Babel and the Document of MGS2?

The rabid fandom for this series even after it jumped the shark worse than the Star Wars prequels with mitaclorians continues to dumbfound me.

I will probably pick this up. I've been wanting to play through MGS2 and 3 again. Those games were my youth.

They took out most of the bonus stuff from Subsistence. Secret Theatre, the movie thing that came with the EU version (it was awful anyway, no loss), Snake vs Monkey (the BIGGEST loss) and even Snake's Nightmare (even BIGGER biggest loss) which came in the original game.

I only ever played Metal Gear Solid on the original Playstation and I'm interested in this, but my tolerance for overwrought anime pseudo-philosophizing disappeared after the age of 25.

@alistercat: I thought PS3 was always region free. Or is it up to the developer to lock a game down or not.

This better release in Europe. You hear that, Kojima? New Missile Crisis: Japan Edition, or release in Europe. Your choice.

Do not want or care. Everything after MGS 1 just got to fuckin weird for me to play through. I can get all the weird MGS story shit from youtube and not give a FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKK about the game play!

They're just packing in the HD collection that Bluepoint Games did for them, and those included the full Substance and Subsistence versions and features (excluding the skate-board mini-game in Substance and the "Secret Theater" parody cutscenes in Subsistence).

That's a lot of metal gears.

EDIT: For the record, I only have the original MGS on PS1 I picked up and haven't beaten so this seems like a score.

I own every retail copy of every Metal Gear game since the NES. I will be getting this Collection as well, bringing the total number of copies I have of Snake Eater (original, Subsistance, Essential Collection, HD Collection, 3DS, Legacy Collection) to 6. You might call me a fan of the series.

I'm going to play through MGS4 again ( haven't played it through since 2009). MGS3 was my favorite so far.

Does anyone remember the massive machine gun at the end of MGS3? If you fire it for long enough, Snakes gives a war cry!

You're not gonna see Portable Ops in this collection because it wasn't directed by Kojima.

So the original Metal Gear Solid in this collection is just a PSN download code? I already own that. I was hoping for trophies to be added in it at least.

Aww why is the 360 version inferior? I just had an urge to play MGS2 and 3 but my PS2 won't turn on so I was going to buy the 360 HD version... What's wrong with it?

I don't know why people complain about new collections, if you already own the games in HD you don't need to buy this; you will miss nothing. Otherwise this is a great intro for newcomers and for people who want to play the HD versions. I just wish all of games were on discs.

Kojima never really acknowledges the Acid games or Twin Snakes a lot. I loved the first Acid but never played the sequel which I heard was a bit of a mess.

I would jump on this instantly if MGS was a disc release. Instead it's a download, so screw that.

Totally pointless if you already have MGS4, I guess unless you're enough of a MGS collector to want the graphic novels (I, for one, couldn't care less).

It's otherwise the same thing as the already-existing HD Collection, aside from the vouchers for MGS1 and VR Missions (important: they are NOT physical discs). Once this is released, I'm sure you'll be able to find the HD Collection for super cheap, so if you do have MGS4, something I imagine true of lots of PS3 owners, you'd probably be better off just buying that and then the two downloadable titles separately if need be.

I guess if you're new to the series though, this is for you. Shame MGS3 doesn't have Snake vs. Monkey.

I've already bought the Limited Edition HD collection and MGS 4. I still have my copies of: MGS, VR Missions, MGS 2 Substance, Documents of MGS 2 and MGS 3 Subsistence. There is no reason for me to buy the Legacy collection. Its disappointing that Xbox 360 users don't get the chance to play all the other games not included in the HD collection.

I just want to buy the art book. I wished that Portable Ops or the Acid games were available on PSN and not just for PSP/Vita. I liked to play Twin Snakes but Nintendo owns the rights to that game. I wonder if the voice cast gets royalties for all the re-releases that have been put out.

Still bummed about the lack of portable ops. It's Almost all of metal gear... Wish they could've just got the last piece of the puzzle. Do I need to buy a PSP go so I can Bluetooth sync PS3 controller to it and play on my TV?
