That things is a behemoth. I do wonder what will be the complimentary broken feature of the One though. RROD plagued the launch 360's. Terrible, noisy and dying power bricks seem to plague the Slims. Both of these i've fallen victim to. Wonder what Microsoft has in store for us next.

I read that half the features the XBox One are capable of are only available to premium members of XBox Live. Like the DVR, etc.

Not for consoles, the PS2 had used a CPU of the MIPS architecture the orginal xbox did use a x86-like processor.

Microsoft went to PowerPC architecture with Xbox 360 and so did Sony with the PS3, the PSP was MIPS-based.

Other than the original Xbox, x86 has never really had a presence in home console market AFAIK.

The sound when you turn it on sounds like something out of final fantasy or a nintendo game.

I kind of want to bet that in 2 years they're going to remove the kinect from the box.

Apparently Major Nelson had a renaissance period as a beloved face of the brand among fans. Every time I've seen him through this whole process I can't help but cringe. I have no idea how this vacuum salesman engendered any goodwill with gamers in the past.

Yeah, you're right. I still have an 80 gig fat PS3. It would have been the same if wasn't for the large curve in the design.

That theory holds no water(coolers) since the 360 had its own massive power brick they haven't changed anything in terms of power supply, the PS3 never had a power brick and it was fine (for the most part)...

At the end of the day can we agree that external power supplies/adapters (that are daisy chained) in 2013 is crazy! The icing on the cake would be if the AC power cord (pretty much proprietary) 2 pronged with a grounded 3-plug.

Either way, so long as the Xbox doesn't overheat and die again I am fine with whatever design decisions they feel are necessary :P

This was one of the worst unboxing videos I ever saw; I kept waiting for him to yell "But that's not all!"

Also, while I'm glad Microsoft is taking criticism to heart and switching gears on the headset inclusion, at some point it feels like they have zero confidence in their original vision and are just doing what the internet tells them to. That actually almost bums me out more than what they planned to do originally.

Isnt it a bit early for an unboxing? Anyway, i guess it looks okay but i couldnt help thinking "wow!" when i saw the power brick. Still hasnt convinced me to reinstate my pre-order but im sure its helped sway a few of the good folks here.

Functionality of the gold plated, virus defending, add-on HDMI cable is locked behind the XBL Gold paywall though.

I was wanting a headset because that's the only way to get online chat in your ear, separated from the game audio through your speakers. I imagine it's cheap enough and they set a precedent with the 360 to just include the thing with the console, lose that money up front but improve the experience for a larger audience in the long run (people who would not otherwise buy one but would use one if included, is prolly a high number).

I wasn't sure because I THINK they said it wasn't in there but that was back at their announce, things change especially this stuff so I guess this is in fact changed :)

I have to buy a new monitor before the release because my old one doesn't have HDMI in, and although I've used converter cables before... I kinda want a cleaner/proper signal this time around... that and my current main monitor us sub 1080p (it's a 19inch 1440x900, painfully in between 720 and 1080).

Headset was not previously included and they wanted you to buy one at an added cost, but once PS4 said they were including it, people have been bitching since then. Another example of the 180. Good on 'em.

@senate4242: basically it signifies that you're a day one purchaser so probably something like an avatar item. but heres the thing since your account is flagged as day one. down the line they can also give you something. its a nice thing considering early adopters are almost always screwed over.
